Rolling road queries ?

  A4 oil burner !!!
After having some more work done on my car i have yet to have it power tested. I know the age old debate of dubious rolling road figures but would just like to know.

Below are my RR readings standard and after a piperx viper, magnex cat back with a superchip.

SInce then had matched inlets, sports cat with ktec stealth, ITG panel, cat cams 428, rs tuning remap. Not expecting 200 brake but just interseted to see what some genuine rollers would give me. Im think around the 185 mark TBH.

I think your 185 estimate is about right. It's certinally a very easy 190 with 182manifold and decat

The 182 Manifold will just make mid-range easier/better...don't expect miracles with it, it will be better, just not as big a BHp increase as some people would imagine.

Kully had Viper i/k, sports cat, remap, ports matched and 182 mani and came out with around 186BHp on his 172 Cup IIRC.

I think the best way to get an accurate figure is to go to an at the wheel dyno. This is where they bolt the dyno to your wheel hubs and measure from there so you are getting an accurate figure. i had mine done at thor racing and it came back with 154bhp at the wheel. Bearing in mind it was a 182 with prospeed exhaust with decat, cat cams 428, headwork, itg filter and mapped by rs tuning. I had my car mapped by Paul about a month before that and his rolling road (dyno dynamics) recorded 188 atf and 154 atw so reasonably accurate.

I think 185 sounds about right for yours...

i have a 172 with panel filter, orbisoud race exhaust, decat, cat cams 428s and group n remap and i also got 154bhp at the wheels. i was a little worried it was low but a few ppl have the same sort of result so its put my mind at ease

So if done on the same rr and i get 185 ATF that is about right for cams, matched inlets and sports cat ? As thats only about 10 more ponies ?
Oh well i love the way it drives and it defo feels quicker esp as i can now now keep up with my mates 225 cup in drag !

think you're crediting the cars with a higher figure than they really have as standard. 172 is about 160 on a genuine rollers, 182 about 168

with just an itg filter i made 168.4 - about 135.9 atw

The Cups made better figures than the FFs as the Aircon/CC appears to sap a couple of Horses.

The 172/182 figure is not Horsepower as many people think, its PS (german equivalent to Horsepower) it works out at 169Bhp @ the fly on a 172 and 179Bhp @ fly for a 182.

Some of the cars do appear to be better out of the box than others...so you won't notice as much of a difference as you would with one of the worse ones out of the box. The 172/182 IMO is probably one of the most expensive cars to get good gains out of as you can spend silly money for a couple of Horsepower increase.

i to can keep with a meggy 225 in a drag from 0-70 then he started to creep past, i too have cams n mapped which made 154bhp at the wheels so yours must be around the same figure as mine. the fly wheel power just depends what calculation has been done from the wheel figure, norm around 25% loss through transmission

seriously? you get more than a couple of horsepower variation between runs over a few minutes lol. My 200sx made 288, 294 and 291 in back to back runs with nothing changed. AC should only make a difference if it's on, it doesn't make the engine produce less power either, it just uses some of the power ;)

I kind of agree with the rest of what you've said as you're right, there are big variations out of the box, but they're still less powerful than you're suggesting

yeh turbo'd cars also seem to get more of a variation than n/a. every rolling rd test ive been to the difference between runs has only been like 1bhp but some turbo'd ones ive seen have had differences of up 8bhp
