And also what is the best fix or is it a new cat required etc?

Also has anyone got any other suggestions on what this smell could be cheers in advance, MATT

No, they just all smell. What's so difficult to understand about that.
 ok ive grasped the idea that they smell but maybe im a little strange but dont really want my car smelling like that forever so whats the fix for it as its only just started so do this,
People dont just drive round in smelly cars forever now do they ? il sell it if its a permenent thing as makes me heave lol, How does the exhaust effect the blowers anyway is what im struggling with :S

I had this exact same problem and i found a solution so here it is

your air conditioning system works in such a way that bacteria can build up in the system and like all bacteria it won't go away unless you kill it,thats why you smell it most when you just get in, because the bacteria has built up over a few hours.

i used a product from halfords called coma air con cleaner, it's an aerosol can and you pull your front passenger seat forward and place it on the floor behind the seat, then turn your air con on full and set it so it recirculates around the cabin (very important), then push the cap down to set the can running and close the doors, leave running for five minutes and this allows the product to kill the bacteria in the system, then just open your doors and let the car ventilate......worked wonders for me.

When you switch your engine off do you leave the air con switched on? I have done this a few time and it smells. If you switch the air con off a min or so before the engine it will reduce the smell.

surely bacteria doesnt produce a sulphur dioxide smell a stagnant water smell yes, eggs not so much, catalytic converter removie sulphur dioxide from the exhaust gasses helping the enviroment, troble is if the cat starts to fail the sulphur its removed can start to leak. u can also get an eggy smell when the cat is brand new and has to be worn in.
