Royally cocked right up today

  clio 182
Bought some new spark pugs today. Fitted 3 ok, 1 stripped all threads from head?????. Bought hellicoil kit, cocked that up, bits in cylinder head, started with no plug in hopefully got all bits out, put plug in, blowing around plug so hellicoil has not worked put it all back together moved it off drive, with only 3 cylinders firing as no spark plug in,farting and blowing, now engine light flashing.
Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow the elves would have fixed it for me.
What sort of price, and what am I going to need to do to get this sorted.
Thanks for listening.

Why on earth did you start it if you dropped the hellicoil into the engine??

Sounds like you need a new head if it's that badly damaged.

Hi.
Well today I've bought a 2005 engine with supposedly 75k on it for £475 delivered with 3 months warranty on it. A friend will fit it for £250, so let's hope this works out for me.
Fingers crossed?

  A special one.
When where the belts last done or are you going to do them before the engine is fitted?

Right next question.
I have to get the car to the garage, about a 10 mile drive.
I have no spark plug in, I have started it and driven it 29 yards.
I don't want to completely bigger the engine, I know it's not in great shape but I don't want to do anymore damage, as I would like to sell it when new engine is in.
Do you think I could drive it the 10 miles under 2k revs all the way without doing more damage.
Thanks in advance.

Is this thread real?
Hahahah
I love a thread like this starts off a cambelt change and ends up with another engine ,
yes I'm an idiot, but it's not the end of the world.
But to mock someone's misfortune, well that's just, brilliantly pathetic. I hope karma deals a great blow to you who have mocked and snigger.
Never mind.
It will all be fixed, if not strip it for spares and people will benefit again through my misfortune, which I'm more than happy with.
If I've misread the above comments wrong, I apologise, if I've read these correctly, stop commenting on this unless you can bring something to the thread that is constructive and helpful.
Best wishes
Kirk

Yes an expensive lesson.
This was not a cam belt change. This was a spark plug change, even more of a c**k up

Sorry my mistake are going to stick a new clutch in at the same time when you change the engine

  dan's cast offs.
i just can't believe you didn't get a timesert in it?? plenty of people will come out and fit them as well at a sensible price.

Balls, man. I'm sure the lesson has been learnt to not try to start an engine that has uncompressible crap in a cylinder! ;-)

Compression test it, it may be ok?

Well for those who are genuinely interested.
Disconnected the injector this morning, no spark plug, fired the wounded old girl up. Drive the 10 mile trip, couple of things happened on route.
Engine light flashed orange all the way, put it in cruise control on the way, and when I turned it off, the symbol stayed on but in orange, turned cruise off and on, light went out.
The last third of the journey was through town, when I dipped the clutch the revs stayed a3k revs.

Got to the garage for 10am with literally everybody looking my way
The engine was already at the garage, here are some pictures, if you look closely it looks like three of the injectors have been replaced, inlet manifold is present as well, which I was I was nicely surprised by as I had ordered just the engine. Here are some photos of it, for the eagle eyed of you to look at.
Any feedback greatly received.
Best wishes

I'm
Still can't believe you're swapping an engine instead of having a timesert fitted??

Yes I know, but I think allot of the debri from the helicoil was in the engine as it made a few rattles etc, just being safe etc, hopefully this works out for me???
Thanks for input.
Hopefully be able to sell old engine? I expect there will be bits on it that people can use??

Not really, you can get 50 quid or so for the RS lower inlet, but no-one is really going to want to take a chance on an engine thats lunched on a load of metal.
Not when a runner is only a couple of hundred quid.

Do feel sorry for you about the spark plug problem though, it's a classic mistake by a previous owner.
Put new plugs in and then yee-haa them so tight it ruins the thread, only a weak bit of ali so doesn't take much to chew it up.

£50 is better than nothing, I will take that.
