Re: Roy's Shed - Esploding in Anthracite

Anyway, should of bought an M3. etc.

More track days planned?

Re: Roy's Shed - Esploding in Anthracite

No more track days yet. Business gets in the way of making plans. Plus it's just too expensive to run on track.

I've been considering another car for ages, but right now I'm thinking maybe a Clio that I don't care about for track use. Maybe a well sorted 172Cup or something. Not sure yet, but the RS is unlikely to see another track anytime soon.

c.8mpg and £200 a corner tyres are not ideal. I am going to ring it though at the next opportunity.

Big fan of the clio's, but wouldn't discount something like a 306. Mainly because they are much easier to work on.

Re: Roy's Shed - Esploding in Anthracite

I wish I had kept my 306. I would now be paying someone to turn it into a track car. I only dumped it in quarry about a year ago :(

Re: Roy's Shed - Esploding in Anthracite

Replace the springs with wheels and suspension which are at least equal to the value of the car and set at a height which would barely clear a piece of gravel should you encounter one on the road, then and only then can you take pics.

Re: Roy's Shed - Esploding in Anthracite

I think on white, you get away with it. Certainly the only colour that suits it. But i think in a few months, you'll see one with silver wheels and realise your wheels looks smaller, and dirtier.

And what's that, you bought expensive APs and are not planning to track day it? I like the way you say its expensive to run, but are considering getting a track toy. That is 300% MATHS.

Turning into a right little *****, aren't we.

The wheels clash in my eyes. But I'm a black on White racist kinda guy.

Oh. And WTF at it being clean? Direct dial to Gally have we?

Re: Roy's Shed - Esploding in Anthracite

Looks so much better.

On another note, the Vredestein winter tyres are fcukin excellent. As you prob know by now.

Yeah they do look a bit smaller but I like that. Makes it look more 'motorsport' IMO

Personally I've never understood the logic when people say anthracite looks dirty. Well yeah, it does when it's dirty. Silver wheels look dirty after 100 yards of normal driving. I suppose black and dark silver cars always look dirty as well then? r****d logic IMO but you've got a really well designed face so it's ok. I don't wash my car thrice a day, so it's an all-round better choice for me. Besides, it's not like I can't change the colour again at some stage.

Also, RS' are so common now (I see 12 every day on my way to KFC) and I fancied a bit of a personal touch which, when combined with the epic brakes, I think I have achieved successfully without opting for the regulatory black-on-white. I do however understand that some people prefer silver wheels. I went through that phase with this very car.

It has already been on track BTW, if it matters. I bought the brakes also for looks, and have never made a secret of it, as the OE items look a bit lame, and it turns out they weigh about 100kg per corner :D

As for the 300% maths, you're right, but considering that consumables for the heap are at least double the price of what they would be for a cheap track shed, I doubt it'd take too long to recoup the costs. Then there's the fact that I kinda like the Focus, and I'd be happier battering a car that I don't really care about. Insurance, Brenching it into the armco etc. etc. So many reasons to get another car for track. That's if I ever decide to of course.

Anyway thanks for everyone's opinions so far. Glad to see there's not too much hate

I really like that :) Awesome choice on the brakes!

It's a bit like Munsoned but for crashing.

Looks alright. Brakes are of more interest tbh!

Re: Roy's Shed - Esploding in Anthracite

I dunno ask the geezer that fitted the rims. I've got their number. Phone em up and ask em about it ;)

No I don't have to change back to summer tyres but I will, as these don't handle as well in normal conditions. Compromise TBH.

Roy has started Detailing, what next, Revels admits he is a raging Homo? You even cleaned in the arches, F@g.

Looks okay, silver looked better IMO, but it still looks awesome.
