RS Inlet manifold VS standard

  Audi TT 225
BenR or you other flow lovers

Ive got a ph-quick, I want to match my inlets, but theres an RS inlet from a trophy up for sale so if I was going to match them anyway would the RS one flow better than my standard manifold?

Whats the difference between standard and RS? Is it a better shape? whats the deal?

iirc the ports are initially larger on the RS but still not perfect. A matched inlet has all this bit reworked anyway so makes no odds if it's an RS or not, I think.

had one of bens reworked inlets and i did have a rs on it did feel different but after i had it remaped it went like stink ,

Well I was going to do the matching myself so I guess my qestion would be will the job be easier with the RS manifold if its already bigger than my standard one so I dont have to re-shape it much just open her up a little?

Which map did you get ? was it a custom job or was it one of the popular "group N" maps ?

I want to get mine matched, one o these days, and i'm already running a group N ecu , but wondering if this will still be right with the matched inlets?
I hope so because i dont want to spend another load of money on the custom !

Yeah what map did you have and where did you get it done?

I wanted them matched before I get cams and a remap so I could have the map tailored to my other mods but I dont know if I should risk going for it myself or leave it to the pro's
In theory its as simple as taking it to my mates workshop and grinding out the excess but I guess its the precision and equality you're paying for...
The two things I would worry about if I had a go at it lol

  Audi TT 225
Yeah I know you guys are the shiznits at doing them Ive followed your work on here for a while.

So I should get the RS one and send it to you then lol?

am i right in thinking the ph2 inlets wont fit the ph1? so theres no point in buying the RS one..?!

  Audi TT 225
Im pretty sure the inlets are the same size, Ben? :S

Its the exhaust ports that are bigger on the ph-quick

  Lionel Richie
na they vary rich (inlet manifold we're on about, not cylinder head)

exhaust ports on the mk1 head are larger

inlet manifolds are all the same fitments, its the plenhams that are different

plenhan is the bit with "RENAULT SPORT" written on it

  Audi TT 225
Yep,
I know CNC beats fat guy with a grinder :D
I know the top bits are different :D

So Is the RS manifold better or should I just send off my standard for some grindage?
Are the end results going to be the same regardless of which one I send off?

  Lionel Richie
doesn't matter which one you send off, they'll come back all exactly the same (thanks to Ben's CNC machine wizard millarky)

lol talking about putting someone in a box and pretending he's a cnc machine we were on about this at work the other day we are signwriters and we thought how cool it would be to have a machine that picked out all the waste material around the letters you wanted to keep on a sign.

We were going to stick our trainee in a big box and make it look like a fnacy machine and take it to a big sign exhibition see how much interest we could create.

on the inlet subject anyone know the torque settings for the various bolts to install the inlet back onto the car?

  Audi TT 225
Or you could dig up a random thread from months ago and post on it? teheheh ;)

Cant remember the exact settings but no more than hand tight iirc

What I don't understand is all these people who've had their inlets done and say didn't make much of a difference, but had a remap and WOOOOW, definetely recommend getting inlets done!!!

Is that not just the remap and not the inlets? Cos I've not had my inlet done but a remap made a massive difference to my car?

  Clio v6
Perhaps it's a case of the remap being needed to instruct the flow to take advantage of the ports scrubbed with a brillo pad?

Who did the remap?

It's the look of the draw mate , you can not tell how good/bad your inlet's are until you take em off, which in it's self is a bit of a job!

182's usely have good/better inlet's too start with , so they gain less !

I had the RStuning remap done first , then the inlet's matched at Benr's , it never gave me a big a BOOM as the remap did , but the car felt better, revved freer, more responsive!

If you want too exstact as much power from your car as poss , while still keeping it looking and sounding stadard , and without spending big money get it done!
