RS Owners

What is it with RS owners that seem to think their cars are supercars? There's so many forums I've read and load of them are things like " My RS is faster than a Boxster!", "My RS is faster than an Enzo", "My RS will kick ass in next years F1 if they allowed Clio's".

You have a CHEAP hatchback which happens to be faster than others. You DON'T have a SUPERCAR. You don't have a SUPERSPORTS car. You have a super cheap fast hatchback which ANYONE can afford.

STOP THINKING YOU HAVE AN EXCLUSIVE MODEL, IT'S THE SAME AS THE PREVIOUS MODEL EXCEPT WITH MAYBE AIR-CON.

The amusing thing about this post is that your comments sum up perfectly what the motoring press says, not the owners on here.

Amongst other things I've read that it will keep "the majority of supercars honest", will "make a Porsche driver sweat", "gain an F430 on the tight bends", and these are guys who actually drive the cars they compare them too, often on the same day.

These guys drive everything out there, and 99% love the Renaultsport Clio with considerable passion. Evo performed the ultimate test of the Trophy's ability, drove it back to back with a Ford GT, Gallardo, Vantage, F430 and several others, whilst they would never pretend that it has remotely capable straight line speed compared to the others, for sheer enjoyment they still (and they being 8 journalists, not a single opinion) rated it 3rd, with only the smallest margin possible behind second (the F430)

I don't really get your financial comments, why does it matter that it "only" costs £13-15k (which is still out of reach of many)? When has how much a car costs matter in terms of what it should be allowed to do? I know of people who have scraped together just enough to buy a Renaultsport (such as myself) but I also know people who could afford anything up to £30-50k who still buy them, when a car is rated that highly its classless.

Why does a "cheap" car have to be inferior to a supercar, especially in the key area that really matters at the end of the day, fun.

maybe hes jealous because he tried to buy an RS but couldnt afford one so got a 1.2 with chavtastic disco lights under the car to make it as fast as an RS?

at the end of the day the RS's are quick, but not mega quick. no one in the right mind would say their car would beat an enzo

Do I think my 182 is a Super-car, yes I do. I think the Renault Sport range are f**king great cars. But to make the assumption, like you have that I

If anyone could afford it, why would they buy an extreme3 clio?

I agree with all you guys though. Ive got a 16V and for 2 grand i dont think you can go wrong. It shows up most cars in a straight line, goes around corners and stops well. Makes a nice noise and looks great.

I wouldnt mind it if it was turbo'd or something but it makes me happy.

I think nightfire is confusing everyone really, but he does have a point,
the RS models are cheap fast hatchbacks, its one of the main reasons why everyone bought one but..
To be totally fair too .. Is a V6 classed as a hot hatch or a supercar?
How many hot hatches have an rear wheel drive system? have a V6 engine standard? To my knowledge theirs only the VW Golf that has, and they're now classed as a family car now aint they along side the Megane? .. Dont see a peugeot 206 hatch with a V6, Vauxhall's Corsa with one, or a Citroen saxo V6 either.. or even Fords new Fiesta ST for that matter.
so does this mean the Renault group can ultimately say they have a performance clio supercar? and in relation to the answer of porsche and the likes of...
I'm quite sure the members of the V6 community on here would take great pleasure in showing you what a modded 400 brake+ V6 can do

And rightly so. I haven't driven a lambo, but they have, so they're in a strong position to give their opinion.

Clio 182 is as fun as some supercars. Certainly more fun to drive than my BMW that would do 0-60 in a supercar baiting 5 seconds.
