RS Sidestrips and Non RS side strips QUICK QUESTION

  BMW E92/Audi S3
Just wondering, are the RS sidestrips smoother than the non RS sidestrips? For example..
If i were to colour code a dynamique. It wouldnt quite be as smooth as an RS's sidestrips.
I have no clue if im making sense really, just want to know. who cares,:star:

Yes, the Non-Rs ones have a texture to it, whereas on the Sports they are smoothed.

if u paint non rs sidestrips, you will still see the texture through them but won't feel it. All my strips have been painted twice and no longer look textured due to the fact of the lacquer filling in the gaps in the textrue

ive got a clio mk3 dynamique and just got it colour coded, you can see the texture through it and feel it in some parts... still looks the part though.

If you sand the textured normal bumpstrips before priming that will get rid of the orange peel look and ensure the primer bonds to the plastic better

I have a pair of bumpstrips off a mk2 172 that are already smooth, just the rear quarter parts though if you're interested. It'll save you a bit of sanding.

i sanded all of mine down! its a real pain in the neck and took me a long time as I did it by hand with wet n dry paper... far better though than building up layers of primer and laquer to smooth.. just have to be patient and accept the repetitive strain injurys the a couple of days after! lol..

It would be best to sand down using a D.A with p320 paper then primer. Wet and dry will take hours.

all part of the fun, i have a driverside front piece next to me now, it came from a 1.2 dyamique, has had undercoat on it and is now as smooth as th rs ones

They'll come from renault ready primed, but u have to paint them yourself. Best thing to do is take yours off, give them a quick scotch, high build prime them and get rubbing. Make sure they're completely smooth with 800 grit wet and dry (use it wet) then ur ready to paint.
