RS Tuner - ECU issue

Help needed!

I have a major issue regarding my ECU as a result of trying to upload the RS Tuner program '98 Ron performance map' to my Clio 182. As far as I am aware the correct file was used.

We backed up the original ECU file and then the Calibration file. We then tried to upload the RS Tuner ECU file but it failed! Now the RS Tuner software says there is no ECU data, and the old ECU file will not upload!

Any ideas? Or suggested plan of action?

Bricked the ECU?

Get the car to EFI and let Chris map it, much better than a generic 98ron map.

Did you connect your car battery up to a charger when doing the upload? Was the battery fully charged? Take it the car will now not run?

We didn't connect the battery to a charger when doing the upload. Battery is only 6 months old but I have not used the car for a couple of weeks. I've not tried to start the car, assumed it wouldn't or I would make things worse.

My friend mentioned the battery charge thing after a google search afterwards so I've just gone and bought one and now recharged the battery fully. We will try again tomorrow...

Worst case i can sort u a 98ron mapped ecu uch and 1 key from a 182

Failing that, an email to Henk for help. Or/and phone calls to the local Clio specialists.

Yeaaah, you want to have a fully charged battery. Before ECU mapping I went and took the car for a good blast before trying a write - obviously that's not an option now, so you'll need it hooked up to a charger.

Has it written 0000 0000? I had that a few times, I think I unplugged from the OBD, turned the key on and off, then plugged it in and restarted RSTuner and had another go at loading the new map.

Yes it's written 0000 0000. I've have fully charged the battery and will put the charger on slow charge during the upload. We will attempt later on this afternoon. Thanks for the help!

UPDATE - As planned we fully charged the battery and then kept the charger connected while we attempted to reload the RS tuner ECU map. Thankfully this time it bloody worked!

So THANKS all, panic over. Car drives better as well.
