Rs tuner kit has arrived!

Well the rstuner kit arrived today :approve: , so before i go out & play what manual do i need for it, there are to on the web site? or is there some thing other manaul i need, came with no instructions in the box :S

Anyone?? really dont know where to start :S , boguht the kit, came with no manauls or cd's or any thing, dont know what manaul to use as theres 2 normal & 2 quick starts, havent found any thing on backing up the original ecu either ...

Most people know that before they order as everything is available to download, and as you have to download the maps obviously means you have an internet connection

make sure you have a good read through James, dont wanna upload the wrong files. Pretty much everything you need is in the manual

Havin a good read through now, still strugling though, not the biggest wiz on the computer, just use it to get online, burn cds, add music to ipod etc & thats it... maybe not the best thing for a non computer guru, if i ever get this sorted i will have to make a guide for people like my self

Will do a forum search, basically i've downloaded the vci soft ware, pluged the vci in, windows detected new device but finshed the setup incomplete, so now when i plug in the vci the laptop just makes a beep but doesnt have any windows pop up asking me to instal drivers, how could i do this manulally now the vci is plugged in? sorry to keep on with questions just been waiting for weeks to get this & now i'm havin these probs i'm loosing interest :dapprove:

henk is spot on, send him a email to confirm you have the correct map after reading manual if you unsure.

You have to go in to "My devices" and delete the RS Tuner of it (mine did this too)

You will have to start again, download the drivers then when it asks if you if it should find the driver automatically say no and find it yourself (where u saved it)

It wont let me search manually for it ... why cant things just work for me! i'm probarbly doing some thing really simple wrong .. does it make a diffrecne that i'm using windows xp?

Right think i may have sorted it, so now if i have done it correctly i should be able to plug this into my car & should run, will i do any damage if i plug it into the car & i have set it up wrong? it said wizard had completed set-up so i assume its all working fine now, is there any thing i can do to confirm its all set up? bit late to go out & play with it now so will hopefully have it installed tomorrow, thanks again for all the help guys

if the programmes working it will be fine. It won't damage your car if its not set up properlt - it just wont work. Plug it in and see. I think the only way you can damage is if you run the wrong file or cal. if you need help with that you can PM me or even better email Henk

Thats because you ordered it off the website where you should of seen the manuals/software for the rstuner in the first place. No point in adding more costs/overheads to an already cheap product when you can just download the manual from the website.

Word of advise: reserve your judgement until you have fully read/used/tested this bit of kit then report back, because id be very interested to hear your results/view.

Very interested in this bit of kit myself so please let us know how it turns out.

Have flashbacks to when i tried to "chip" my PS1 back in the day with a soldering iron and a bit of wire i mail ordered in from Europe. One poof of smoke later and no more Gran Turismo for me

Got mine today as well....ran into some problems.....

ive read cal and read rst files and backed them up.

Downloaded

• 6400_2A07 RON98 groupe_N .rst
• 6400_2A07 RON98 feb 2008 .cal

IM on software 6000 and vin is cb1n...so i guess these are right.

I uploaded the 6400 ron98feb 2008.cal to the car and it wouldnt start...so ive reverted back to my backup version.

What did i do wrong? Maybe i needed to update my software first? then do the cal?

How do you connect to the car once all the drivers are done mate, got all the vci done, sittin in the car, plugged it all in & nothing... how do i manually tell my laptop that i want it to connect to the car? :S

Load up rstuner16.exe Click connect, it will then pop up a new windows with another connect button asking for you to turn ignition on. Turn it onto the last click so you have light on dash. Then press connect again and boom, all information should be read. Ive tried the software 1.6.3 on fastchip.nl and it didnt work for me so im using 1.6 until henk replys...

Finally got mine to connect too the car:approve: .. well my brother did lol, took him all of 20 mins to start from sctratch on his laptop, i'm gonna take a stab that its because he had vista & there for was easyer :rasp: .. but now he's ran into a prob, basically he has read my ecu so its all stored on his laptop then he went to down load the group n file as according to the manual it was all good to go but when he clicked the download it just came up with a page full of script :S so he's wondering if your ment to down load it through the remap software or some thing? either that or theres a prob with the fast chip web site..

Right click on the download - the click on "Save target as"

Its not hard - Loads of people have done it which has saved them over £150 for exactly the same thing as a company would charge £300 for and you don't get the added extra's like being able to return to standard and diagnostics. It's easy, especially when we can help each other on here if we get some problems (and great customer service from fastchip ("who know what they're doing")) other than running off and spending £300 because we dont want to "take a risk"

All i can say is , my brother uploaded the group n map & jesus what an improvement, specially on the torque side of things.. & that rpm, its just keeps going, It pulled well past 70mph in 2nd gear no probs, by far the best modification on the 172 & for under £145, i would say if your half decent with a computer, like my brother lol, go for it!

be carful for the 1st few runs mate, it takes up to 10 runs for things to settle and become normal. ie. my cruise control was 3 runs and i dont think my limiter was right on the 1st 2 runs (too high) i think it should be at 7.5k rpm when its finally settled so 70mph is over 7.5k rpm right?? - Mine was over 7.5k rpm @70mph anyway - wont do it now i dont think

and yeh Jeeezus it went like a rocket..
Now i want some cams cause it's just never enough

Yes mate i think 7,500 was around 70mph but it pulled to just under 8,000 , hopefully will stay like that as it was pulling strong all the way to the limiter, no notciable drop in power that high in the rpm either but this was the group n map & not the 98ron, as i remeber reading you cant get a group n map for the 182 yet, maybe wrong though :S

Dont plan on driving it to 8k every day, but as i'm sure you can understand, last night was like being a kid at christmas again so it got a little thrased:approve: although i did do a good 15min drive to get the temps up & it had 5l of fresh fully synthetic oil dropped in it the day before

Thanks again for all the help guys, if i can get my brother to make a guide on here, just about the little basics that i didnt understand such as the save target etc i think it could be very usefull to others & save you around £200 ... although to be honest i was shiting it abit when it said wright ecu & that warning message came up about downloading the wrong file will permantly f**k up your ecu :dapprove: just very very happy when i turned the key & it started lol
