RS Tuner Queries

Cub.

A few questions I need some help with I am afraid. I have looked at the guide, and searched and don't have an answer or missed it, in which case sorry in advance.

I have a second hand RS Tuner. I wish to use it to map two other cars. It has the 98 Ron map and pops and bangs. To put the 98 Ron Map on both cars do I need to buy two licenses and the map twice?

Or just two licences?

Any help appreciated, cheers.

Oli

The maps will be the same, but when you buy the license you have to send off a screenshot of the ECU data to Henk and he will send you the relevant Map, if anything pops up just ask him, but going on what I've seen here everyone has the same file, Once you get one file let me know and I can compare the file names to what I got from them, Can't have two files with the same name right?

So I just need to buy two licenses, and when I buy them I need to send the ECU code for each car to Henk, to get a specific map for each ECU back again?

No you send send the screenshot of to Henk for the unlock code ( for each car ) then you will get 2 mails with each code, you then once unlocked need to do a ECU readout with the software and mail this to Henk for the calibration Module, given that you have the codes right in front of you, you'll be able to see right there if they are the same, if they are the same which is highly likely just buy the one map, it's just a file you open and upload not single use stuff.

For an older one what you are saying is correct cub, you just need to send off the code from the screenshot and then get an unlock back and off you go, Ive put the same map on multiple cars for people, with just a license for each.

Not sure if on the newer ones its cleverer than that though and he's had the commerical sense to lock the map to both the car and the unit.

Bought it off Harbinger, not sure when he bought it. I believe its a newer one though.....

Not my car, so the guys who want the map will need to weigh up if they think the cost is worth it :)

I bought it mainly for diagnostics :)

I was told that if you unlock your car and map it, then do a friends you can then re -use the original unlock code henk sent you for your car providing the same unit/tuner module is used.

Because at the time i was going to do a few cars for friends and was worried that i would then need a new unlock code. But was told the abov.

No it locks to the car.
For instance, if you have a 172 and a 182, you buy one 2nd hand. plug it into the 172 and will display it is locked to the previous owners car, you will mail off the the Unlock code, map the 172 as normal, you then plug it into the 182 and will say it is locked the 172 you had just done, you will need an unlock code for this also.

Yes but Cub has his own unlock code already, so when he goes back to his car again, he can just use the code he already has?

And if he hasnt bothered to unlock to his car (Id imagine he hasnt as his isnt standard enough to want an rs tuner map on it) then its already locked to not his car, so will be no difference after.

Yes, as when he goes to the new car it will be locked to the original one he used and he will have the unlock code for that one sent to him to be used on the new one.

This. In a nutshell. I mainly use it for diagnostics :)
