Mines mapped. Decatted rs192 and ktec induction kit, i noticed a difference, well worth it for the money. If you play it right you only have to fork out for the unlock code. And there isnt any cons, well apart from the fact you feel the need to press the right pedal harder lol
Assuming you genuinely have 186bhp, it seems likely that you car already is remapped as it wouldnt do that on the standard software, even on a "freak" engine (the power outputs genuinely do vary quite a lot on the F4R)
So as to if you would gain anything, you might even lose it if you have a map on there currently that better suits the car than an RS Tuner one.
If your software is standard at the moment, then that power figure is a LONG way off IMHO

BG Clio 182 - Recaro
Had car serviced and set up on rolling road, not mapped though just settings changed, gain of 12bhp ( from 174bhp to 186bhp ) so is it best to stay away from a rs tuner. Runs very smooth
Any ideas?

Buy unlock code £48.00 ish
Map i needed £0 had someone email me
Sold tuner within ten mins on here for £80 delivered, cost me aroung £7 i think for next day delivery.
Total spend £50
Car drives better, idles better and the power is all through the range.
So in a word, yes!!

What "settings" did they change?
As TBH unless it was the temperature or pressure compensation on the rollers (ie no change in figure but just pretend there is), then short of a remap there arent any settings for them to change on an F4R that I can think of, other than the cam timing!

No idea and no idea. Its a good car though if you know what i mean. It feels quick enough so im happy
Even the standard map shouldnt really be used on 95 mate, there is a sticker in the filler cap telling you not to in fact.

Well it's on a map to say 186 bhp, they are a company that do rolling road days, I have used this company many times, ie no lies
Im not technical so I couldn't tell you what they did, they just plugged into ecu and did a few things, hour later there was a 186bhp increase
Feels more responsive and runs a lot better than it did

The problem with using it, is it can write your engine off if you do in the long run.

Well they've remapped it then. so an rstuner is pointless.. What company out of interest?
"Lies" is a strong word, but I suspect if for example you take that car to the CS Surrey Rolling road day in Feb, it wont see the same figure by at least half a dozen bhp, different rollers read differently and you wont see that power on any of the ones that I personally use from that spec of F4R engine, but that doesnt mean yours are lieing, maybe the ones I go by read low instead.
If they "plugged into your ecu and changed a few things" then they remapped your car, so if you now put an RS Tuner map on, then you will be erasing what they did and replacing it with an RS Tuner map instead, which may make you LESS power as a result, or it may make you more, depending on how good a job they did of remapping it in the first place.
Who was it who did the work? as there are actually very few places that can actually remap the standard ecu on the clio.

How much did you pay them?
Im not actually convinced hi tech themselves have the ability to directly alter the map on a clio but you could always ask them what they actually changed and let us know what they say.
So bp fuel?????
BP, Vpower etc.
Im sure 97 isnt too big a risk (having seen that there is still some headroom in the timing on Henks maps), but 95 I certainly wouldnt recomend.

I used a company called hi tech
They specialise in racing cars
I paid £850 for full service, Cambelt change, water pump and rolling road
I would imagine most of the gains you saw were down to the belt change, as if the timing was wrong to begin with and they corrected it then there would be good gains to be had
What did you pay them to do on the rolling road though?
Just check its power? Or adjust it? If adjust it then adjust what?

When I bought my car it had a rolling road printout in the service history from this hightech, which showed 185BHP or something
My close friends own a japanese tuning comany called tuning developments, so i asked them to put it on their rollers as i knew they would give me a truthful readout, they use dyno dynamics rather than something from the dark ages lol.
Anyway my car pulled the usual 170 odd BHP....
Safe to say the print out from high tech went in the bin!

are there any disadvantages to remapping your car on a regular basis?
i was planning to get an RS Tuner, run the 98 map or performance map and maybe change over to pops and bangs every couple of weeks for the weekends.. when i go out to play.
everything just seems too good to be true.. mapping your car makes it run better etc, surely Renault would of done it from standard etc etc??

Renault did the mapping to emissions regulations. aswell as other bits and pieces they have to abide by. iirc the engines are euro 3.
No Harm in changing the between the 2, it just shows on the ECU log how many times its been changed.

because from what i can see - you map your car, it gains power (sometimes), runs smoother, and sounds better (again, sometimes haha) - all round Pros!
