RS Tuning Remap

R

rich[182]

I remember a few weeks back a couple of guys had it done on 172/182, over at Meganesport.net the Megane remap is now getting a big thumbs up

How many Clio RS owners have had their remap done now ? What's your thoughts ?

Me. Top stuff and top bloke too.

I likened the difference to having a passenger removed from the car and then some.

Driving back to back, without the map, in the car on my own then with the map on and Paul (pmurray/RS Tuning) in the car, the car was still quicker with the passenger after the map.

Fuel consumption has also improved.

Well worth it.

Yep... def worth it. Ive just had Paul remap my 182 today and its made a huge difference. Torque from 3000rpm is hugely improved and ive noticed I need to down change less. Even cruising in 5th at 80mph it pulls much better.

Before my power and torque came in lumps through the rev range but now its a smooth constant rise... and more of it.

Greatest change (gain) from any mod ive ever had.

Nice guy and knows his stuff too.... even when he had to override my previous crappy chip.

Thanks Paul !!!

^^^^ How much improvement would ya say on your mpg ?

A good 3-5 mpg. Doesn't sound like much but I give the old gal a right shoeing these days compared to when I first got her. If I drove the car like I do now without the map, I could be as low as 23mpg dependant on fuel. With the map I return approx 32mpg on Optimax, 29mpg on anything else.

What sort of gains did you get Justin?

I gained 5 bhp but 15lb/ft from around 2000 rpm IIRC. Mid range pickup is much improved.

^^^^ Nice one .

I used to get roughly 28 mpg round town in my mk2 172 and about 36mpg combined with motorway / town . Now on my new 182 i average about 24 ish mainly round town , less motorway miles since i dumped the g/f , lol , but i do drive the 182 a bit harder than i did with my 172 .

Havent had it rolling roaded yet mate as ive recently got home and had it remapped in the evening lol... and also have a busy couple of weeks ahead but will get it done soon. But similarly to you, i am expecting a big rise in torque from about 2500 rpm as i know it wasnt there before.

Sounds good

Does anyone know if RS Tuning do generic maps i.e...can you send him the ecu for mapping...Leeds is a bit of a long way for me living down south.

Cheers Fred, was good to see you at the show and we must have a longer chat sometime!

As for the offboard remap/reflash yes we can do this no problem.

Yes, the map would work well with the mods. Most cars have had very similar mods to yours and have performed very well on the dyno.

Thats cool, i think ill be interested in a few weeks when i get paid!

Just a few of Q's... ;)

Am i right in thinking that you just remap the existing ecu?

If so, does it keep all the original ecu's features?

And how noticable would it be to renault? (Ive got a warrenty and dont want them to be able to notice it if they need to do some work on the car!)

If i get the inlet/head ported and a decat/exhaust later, would the ecu adapt to the changes well? (Ive read that the standard ecu does not cope well, so the engine runs lean, leading to damage)

Cheers

Basically the stock ECU is remapped keeping ALL original features. As for Renno.. they are unable to see the map as such but CAN OVERWRITE with a factory upgrade. It's quite rare really but does happen.

The mods above will work very well with the remap and i should be able to release some more figures soon hopefully.

If you need any further info feel free to ask away;)

Hi mate,

So far, ITG panel filter, inlet manifold match and Janspeed exhaust. Not big mods but i wasnt expecting the remap to be so dramatically noticable.

Think I prefer a remap rather than replacement ECU, nothing to disturb and I'm only 20 mins from Leeds if I needed to flash back to standard.

If its done without a rolling road run afterwards are there any tests carried out to confirm its not over fuelling etc,etc

Paul - Seem to remember you were either moving to new premises or looking for a rolling road instead of using Well Lane turbos @ Batley, is this still the case ?

Cheers

Still looking at the RR... I have only used Well Lane once for certain reasons. I usually use a place in Halifax who have one of the best Dyno's in the country!
