no it doesn't!!! you have to pull the shock piston up as far as possible and then put some force down on the spring whilst a mate puts the nut on for you, easy peasy
lol yozza its not worth ur hassle its all going tits up the silly shock has got wedged in by the brakes, its too far mate i live in Aylesbury hp218nd. anyone wanna buy a black 172 u gotta sort it out yaself lol
To get my front shock out easier I dismantled it all while it was in the arch. took off nut and rubber donut and other bits and the shock came out easier, bit by bit.lol.
no mate havent removed it about the only thing that has gone right lol
as for the shock it quite happy not coming out the spot its got itself in...just gonna leave it and get a mechcanic i never quit but i've already kicked my \fcuk hat up a tree lol
If your doing it on your own mate i advise compressors, i did mine on my own and it was so much easier with compressors! If you can get a mate round tho its easy. As for getting the shocker stuck make sure its not ripping the CV boot if its stuck behind the brakes as they have a tendency to force down on the boot and when you move it will rip it.
Best way to free the shock again (beware bodge method to follow) Get your mate thats on his way to help with the spring to stand on the top of your brake disc to lower the suspension arm and lever the shocker out of the arch. DO NOT attempt the standing on brake disc method if the car is jacked up, only on axel stands
