Why do soem of the mk1 clio 172 have black rub strips down the doors? and other have body coloured?

The exhust was hand made by Eastside performance in Kelty (Scotland) they cut the bumper to make it look the part, I saw loads of 172s with the exhaust hanging down at the back and wanted mine to look different. Took them 5 and a half hours to make it but it was well worth it, didnt cost much either
