Rugged Camera (Waterproof?)

I am in the market for a rugged camera and water proof would be a bonus.

Whats the best?

I hear the new cannon is getting good marks!

Canon 1D series is "weather proof" and built like a tank. The range starts at over 3000 new but there are some second hand bargains to be had.

If you want a water proof compact, I remember seeing something from olympus a year ago advertising a camera that was waterproof to a couple of meters.
