Runnig Car Cold

If one was to start their car then turn it off well before it has warmed up, does this do the engine any good?

I dont know, but Ive always tried to avoid doing it. Just like I try and avoid really short journeys. Not too much of an issue in the 172 though as its warmed up in next to no time.

no more damage then you did when you first start the engine in the morning - try to avoid re-starting from cold tho, it doesnt do it any good.

If you do it on a regular basis youll get mayo in your engine oil due to condensation.....not good!!
