running issues - possible remap?

since ive had the car (a year now), it just doesnt seem to run right, its had a service and mot in that time and the pre cat lambda has been replaced.
And still doesnt seem to run right to me, and only getting 28/29mpg driving like a granny.

I got the car with a decat on, and i replaced this with a custom sports cat, about 10months ago.

Ive heard stories that people remap there cars when they put a decat on.

my question is by putting a sports cat on would this make the car run differently? and is there any way of telling the car has had a remap in the past without getting it on a rounding road? I am not mechically minded what so ever.

normally if its been mapped it revs a bit higher.. what revs does it bounce off the limiter at?

unsure ill, have to go for a drive a see, that the only way to tell?

does anyone if putting a sports cat on would mess with the decat map?

no idea.. probably guessing it would though as maps are suited to your mods.. don't count on it tho... seeing what it revs to would be the easyest way tbh... lol

true cheers, am i right in thinking, the standard rev limit is 7.5k and a remap would be 7.85k?

well im pretty sure mine revs to 7.5k and its been remapped.. would take it for a drive but the pas pumps gone haha.. so maybe its already been remapped??

Ok cheers for that. I'll have a look tomorrow. And am guessing if it has had a remap the only way to solve the issue is have it mapped again.

What's the prices for remaps?

Hows it not running right anyway? as 28-29mpg is really low driving carefully i can get 40ish fairly easy! Wouldnt have thought a remap would have had that much of an effect with just the cat, cheapest way is to get a RS tuner from fastchip and stick the oem map on you can pick them up second hand under a £100 then about £50 to unlock it

Ok cool, cheers for that. Yeah I guess a custom one would be best I think. How easy are the fast chip/rs tuner ones to do? Can they be picked up on a garage computer? Coz my car has a year left on warrenty

Not sure if they can be picked up on a garage computer or not, piece of piss to do yourself though u just need a laptop. Surely if you've allready got a map and a sports cat your warranty is invalid anyway

I don't know if I've got a map anyway. It was bought from a car supermarket with exhaust n lowered etc

you're probably best going to RS or similar for a remap, they will be able to identify any problems in the process also

Yeah cheers for that. I may have too. Rev limit is 7.2k in 2nd so I guess that means it's standard?
