Running Problem with OMEX

M

mini-valver

So now OMEX say the ECU should go INSIDE the car? I'm sure someone copy and pasted an e-mail from? OMEX saying it would be fine placed in the engine bay.... Is the email the same as the RR graphs ;)

it says in the omex manual that its fine for mounting in the engine bay

i read its IP54 rated, basically means it sheilds most water ingress

  2005 Nissan Navara
MOST isnt good enough though!

I really dont see the point in risking it...glovebox is best, and not as if its alot of extra work if you building a loom anyway.

well, amusing to see after the witch hunt it's been installed as per manufacturer's instructions and 2 isolated cases of problems are the only ones they have heard of... strange coincidence or user error?

Hassle hassle hassle! Why do you's bother tuning clio's!

because it's fun... why do people spend thousands on sub par performance cars that dont corner or do straight lines well and drink petrol like it's going out of fashion? Could go on all day... lol

Or lack of common sense. You choose.

probably the latter for different reasons... brb anyway, I'm off to pressure wash my Omex then remap the car myself :clown:

But you haven't done any clio tuning...You bought it done!

I'll stick to my reliable sub par performance car!

says who? I bought it with bodies, but it's had a fair bit done since, I just dont digress every little mod or tweak on here. When there's something significant you'll be able to read about it.

Horses for courses, cars aren't investments, you lose money either way, may as well have fun in them and get them how you want them. So I'll stick to my highly reliable highly modified car ;)

true about cars no bein the best investmment...But i love them, so i'll keep buyin!

But the ammount of threads i see about OMEX, mapping, clio tunin...i now just think, whats the point! - Yours may well be reliable now, but it's had it's fair share of niggles! Which if i'm bein honest about would piss me off and ruin the expereience.

hence why i'm leavin mine std. Bar, IK,zorst and Map.

put into perspective thought it's multiple threads by the same people. Mark has made loads, Phil's has just dragged on and on with all the so called experts offering fixes etc etc (which GDI sorted out straight away lol) and I've had a couple of sensor faults, nothing major and nothing costly to sort... bar taking it to a local garage who had no idea.

tbh I just cant understand why only these cars have had this problem, mine's been in for 2 years and has periods of inactivity whereby it's been stood doing feck all, have driven it under Hesketh bridge which floods everytime it rains and it's been fine. Stoddie and Mark both had major problems with theirs, haven't had them on the cars as long iirc or for half the miles (over 40k) mine has... why's mine not broken yet?

yours was broken when Chris had it, it couldn't go round right hand corners without cutting out!

what has that got to do with Omex or anything for that matter? Your not seriously suggesting that's also down to the ECU? Since I've had it it's been reliable as funk.

Nah, just talkin about general reliabiliy. i mind when chris had it on track,i nearly drove into going round the first corner at brunters as it stalled/cut out.

I'm glas GDi could sort phils! Look forward to seein a Tb'd clio up north! :)

me too ali, will be back up here on tuesday night

I cant see any reliabilty issues tbh,its a brand new omex that is going to be mounted inside a box and made watertight

the wiring is being renewed and the jenveys are bulletproof

dont go overboard on the water shielding mate, remember these things have a PCB and get quite warm as it is.

true that, there is a fair amount of breathing space in the box so should be alright.

was going to be the exige if it wasnt ready in time but its the clio now, if all goes well. Ive sent you a text.

just my 2p's worth on this subject...

there is no reliabilty issues with OMEX, Jenveys etc.

Its how they are fitted, setup and finished.

My old VTS ran OMEX and Jenveys, was setup properly, and ran its entire life without skipping a beat. It would sit idle for months on end sometimes, until a track day or show came up, and would fire up and run like a dream.

So as long as everything is done properly first time, then there are no issues.

Money permitting i hope to ITB mine over the next 12 months, as i know if i get it done properly i will have NO issues!

anyways... carry on!

who did your saxo fella out of interest?

The T/B setup was purchased from GMC Motorsport (as they designed a 180 degree trumpet and air box setup, to keep inlet tract length).

And it was all fitted and mapped by a place called Mech Repairs, which were recommended to me by OMEX (i beleive they are only up the road).

The car run really well, and idled perfectly.

Unfortunatly the throttle pot came loose, and i did my best to set it back up again. So i took it to Dyno Tec Developments and they reset it, sorted out a sticky butterfly and tweaked the map.

And it ran perfectly till its demise at a Redline track day @ Bedford Autodrome, where my brake pads decided to slice clean in half, sending me backwards over a 12 foot mud bank at about 65mph! :D

gmc motorpsort did my friends 106 TB kit, they couldnt fit it for some reason and they were the ones who designed it.

had to take the car and kit and get someone else to do it.
