Sandtler & Mintex combination

  PB172,XC70_2.5T
Hi clio fans,

On my clio sport172 mk2 which i have 4 months as a weekend car, I noticed that when it gets wet (rain, or after rain), the brakes brake very little.
I asked the friend who sold it to me, he has bought a set fo sandtler discs (Type S) and mintex pads ( M1109/1GF ).
Discs should be fine, i am not sure about the pads.

I plan to change the pads for some EBC redstuff or Ferodo DS Performance,
but first I would like to ask if did anyone here use the same setup and encountered this problem in wet.
Brake fluid was changed 3 months ago, the discs and pads are almost like new.
In dry It brakes fine, but you know brakes should brake always;)

thanks for tips

Brake discs shouldn't be the problem as the Type S discs are grooved. Mintex 1109 pads are standard replacements. So you might try an uprated pad. I am running Ferodo DS2500 pads on ATE power discs and they work really good inn the dry and wet.

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
as above M1109 is a standard compound, DS performance pads are near enough the same as standard too. I'd disregard EBC pads altogether personally. ds2500 are expensive and un needed on the road.

Many thanks for the replies, so it looks I am going to look for new pads.
I thought, since the discs are grooved, its better to have a harder compound pads. Is this true?

Hi mates, I just had a look at the brakes and my brother is an car fan and he showed me some documents that it is possible that my front discs are mounted on the wrong sides. The grooves are in the direction the wheel turns so it may be possible that the water can not be thorown out at speeds more than 50mph. What do you think about it?
