SANDWICH PLATE ? ? FITTING OIL TEMP AND OIL PRESS SENDERS

Does anyone know where i can get a sandwich plate thing to fit oil temp and pressure senders into ?

I beleive the plate goes in between oil filter and block...

As i fancy fitting gauges

Or is there any other places in engine i can screw the senders in to ?

think demon tweeks sell them as well, if your getting one make sure it has a built in thermostat to reduce risk of over cooling your oil.

You can make a simple adaptor out of hex bar and screw it into the oil pressure warning switch threaded hole, then put the pressure switch on the adaptor.

Been just thinking does anyone know how to fit this ?

Is it just a case of taking off oil filter and slipping it over then new oil filter back on ?

Do they have coolant pipes ? or does it just have tapped holes for my senders to screw into ?

(As my old Mk2 Golf Gti had a similar thing between filter and eng block :S with oil temp and oil pressure light senders coming from them coming from it.)
(Unless it was an oil cooler it had fitted as there was water pipes going in one side and out the other side of it ) :dapprove:

what you had on the golf was an water-oil cooler which uses water feed from your radiator to cool your oil, i have fitted air-oil coolers by using a sandwich plate which sits between your engine and filter, really easy to do.

as far as fitting an oil temp sensor and oil pressure i think you can get a sandwich plate with screw in threads you need to find out what size threads they are and make sure any guages you buy have same size.

best bet would be to take it to one of the renault specialists and get them to sort it mate they could even splice into circuits your car will already have monitoring these things, im quite happy using the water temp to keep an eye on engine temp i dont do track days in this car, i have had them on previous cars but not going to bother with the clio.

Ok cheers bud, that explains a few things :)

I wouldn't have thought the old Mk2 Golf Gti's would have needed a oil cooler :dapprove: there only 1.8's with no spectacular power coming out them.
