I've just bought the new Pioneer AVIC-X1BT and its awsome but it did cost £1500 lol. Ya best bet is just go buy a tom tom if your not willing to pay the dolla.

Seen some new for about £400 - can you put sat nav software onto any head unit with a screen? I don't mind if you have to put a sat nav dvd in and get a gps reciever etc?
Looked at that pioneer one, looks sweet!

No, you cant just go putting the software into any Motorised HU...
It will not be capable of reading it..

Best bet would be to buy something off eBay, and get a high quality system for a low price..

Failing that, then an AVIC X1 from Pioneer, being 1 of the cheapest about at the minute, and also 1 of the best available, will set you back £950 from most Mail-Order companies..

As Jaffa says tho, if ya dont want to pay, ya dont get to play

The Avic X1 is good, but the X1r is even better, thats the one i went for and couldnt really fault it, would be better if it had a speed camera detector in it though

Speed camera database is a must, think I'll just settle for a tom tom one.

Duh, kinda obvious, considering there is over £500 difference in the X1 and X1R at the minute..

The X1 is out for a couple years now, but yet to be better in its price range... Paired with a road angel, i couldnt fault it
