Satellite and Freeview

At the moment i have a sky box - with a cable running to my bedroom along with a magic eye allowing me to watch tv from a satellite via my PC card installed on my computer

Im fed up of using my sky box as the limit the amount of channels you get! if i buy a Satellite and Freeview (free to air) box from say maplins - do these type of boxes have the facility to still run another aux cable to my pc??

You get far more FTA channels via a sky box.

Paul buy the £20 card from Sky that allows you acess to loads of channels. Think its called a Freesat card.

Even if you got half a dozen i was going to buy the card!!

my dad has bought just a cheap box from maplins (well i say cheap was about 85.00 at the time but they have come down since then) he gets bloody everything about 800 channels) LOL

What i dont understand is you can buy a cheapo set top box for 20-30.00 and you get lots of freeview channels! (but that has got to be through an aerial not a dish)

By the looks of it Sky are playing a game :S

Thing is you get 200 channels with Sky. But about 160 of them are utter crap like Gay Date TV, Islam Channel, Tiny POP, France 24 and Bad Movies.

At least all the channels you get with Freeview are watchable.

Looks like the only way round it in layman’s terms is to have a twin thinggy on your satellite and have two boxes - there for enabling you to get freeview channels from a non sky box and a sky box to get 4 and 5 thats utter pants!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately sky reserve the right to encrypt their channels, they use a system called NDS an Israeli company that use mossad as their own personal army. There whole system cannot be integrated should it be queried. At work our NDS system is sat behind a resistant cage with pressure sensitive floor tiles and a whole bunch of CCTV. For a complete list of free to air channels follow this link to astra 28 east http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/skyuk.html. All the channels in white are free to air and the ones in purple/plum are encrypted. all the frequencies are on the right and show vertical and horizontal polarity, the symbol rate and fec is under that.

TBH, all those channels are shite, but if your after the best of sleazy channels then repoint your dish to Hotbird 13east. http://www.lyngsat.com/hotbird.html
