hi there all, i have a 172 with full colour sat nav and want to begin upgrading the ice, cdoes nayone one no if i can replace the existing head unit with a new one and the sat nav still work, everyone ive spoken to says speak to renault but they do not know, he sound comes out of the speakers but mutes when a direction is given, could it be the radio mute for hands free???

yes i would have thought it could be, I have an aftermarket Navigation system in my 172, i would have thought the best thing to do would be remove the std HU, and see how it is wired up, I.E take a look at the two std wiring blocks behind the HU and see how/if they are integrated into the navi wiring/system.

yeah have done that and there seems to be nothing wired in, the built in sat nav is wired direct into the wriing loom through the boot, dash and under the driver seat and renault say they dont know where it is liked in, there is one wire in the back of the head unit that isnt on the loom but dont know if the renault headunits have function for audio mute

alright mate, i got the 182 with the renault sat nav, and ive changed the std head unit for my kenwood dvd screen. The sat nav screen seems to work, but as renault havnt managed to provide me with all the sat nav disk when i picked the car up i couldnt possibly let you know for certain untill this weekend when hopefully renault will have the cds in for me, but il let ya know how its all goes. But i have heard that the sat nav will still work when the std HU is taken out anyway.

got my disk for my sat nav now, and all works fine with a different headunit fitted, so no prob there. Hope this helps ya.
