SCAMMER TO WATCH OUT FOR

I'm understanding it that the scammer has tried to buy something from the OP for £160.

The scammer sent a false email to the OP, 'from' Paypal confirming a payment of £160 to the OP, so that the OP would send the item(s).

If the OP hadn't have noticed it was fake, and the funds were actually not sent, then he would have been £160 out of pocket, and the scammer, potentially £160 better off. (Depending on how he values said item(s))

Shmunn, I believe the OP is the seller in this case. If you've paid someone money, then an email from Paypal confirming the payment can not possibly be any trouble for you :S

when it happened to me I was selling an iphone, the scammer clicked BIN and I got an email which appeared to be paypal saying that I had recieved the payment of £180, the only reason I realised it was a scammer was that I logged into my paypal to double check and it was empty, if I hadn't of double checked I would of sent it, it was very convincing

If you don't check ACTUAL PayPal via your own link/browser, then you've been outsmarted by someone who has to resort to outsmarting stupid people to make a living.

Probably not something to pop on your CV...

What Giraffe said.
This can all be completely avoided if you always check your account on their website, to confirm if any money has gone through.
I don't even bother with any emails from them. Just use my account online. If you don't check you are a bit silly.

This applies to any site where money is involved. Bank accounts, Ebay etc.

exactly as above it was something i had for sale on gumtree but ichecked my paypal account.. the cheeky fcuk has even sent emails stating police action to fraud by not confirming the postage details i.e tracking number or such.. the night b4 i had some 1 hit BIN on ebay and that was also a scammer... THEY USUALLY ASK U TO INVOICE THEM!!!

ALSO CHECK YOUR PAYPAL THROUGH YOUR OWN LINK NOT THE EMAILS AS THERE PHISHING EMAILS AND GET ALL YOUR DETAILS FOR LOGGING IN!!!!!
