SCARY Moment

Why's that? Do you run to a garage the minute a noise appears?

TBH I see where he is coming from. Brakes are not something to muddle around with.

I think I took the appropriate course of action - took it to a garage then stored it at my rents house. Only driving it on a private road.

Cant wait to just get it sorted!!!

Update

So got the car to lemonobby to diagnose the issues. Turns out the nearside pad had been unevenly worn due to a faulty caliper (Chinese whispers of what he has told me) getting new calipers and pads fitted tomorrow then off to Dan @ sjm on Saturday.

One side of the pad had worn down to the backing plate causing the grating noise and shuddering. It was noted that the car wouldn't move backwards. The brake fluid was also low, got the flashing stop and handbeake lights.

So in summary. Caliper seized, new calipers pads and discs on soon. Thanks for all your help. I'll confirm everything is sorted tomorrow :)

Blimey. I was about to mock you for neglect, but I am not one to talk.

Mine was going in for its MOT and before hand I went out and gave the brakes some serious agro to "Clean them up". MOT came and they were at less than half ability and mis-matched to a ratio of 3:1.

Passenger side inside was screwed and the disc was disintegrating. In short, I too could of easily killed someone. Serves me right for expecting the main dealer had sold he a mint motor brakes wise.

23% of the N/S front pads were touching disc when operated! So dangerous.

Your new ones will feel epic. Ask for a full new brake fluid through out the system too.

Yeah I haven't had the car long.

It was all on the to do list but then something happaned that pushed the matter.

Getting full brake fluid change as well.

Oh and in better news the nearside shock is leaking :) yay!!!

The car has had very few on road miles as fortunately have a company car.

Looking forward (after cambelt dephaser etc) to actually driving it a little.

Then fun mods :) exhaust, cooksport springs, new shocks all round, new seats, new wheels and im done :)

Oh and a glove box haha

its lost a pad on the o/s/f inner the end of the piston is ground away in to the disc and its siezed.
the n/s the dust seal is all split and twisted

o/s/f shock is leaking

so the plot has thickened.

Took the car to the local garage to check up.... The chap confirmed that all brake pads were present and correct and had legal wear left. Upon returning to the car to sheepishly trundle it over there the grinding noise was still there but now the pedal seems very firm.

The brake lines are all still attached as well.

After the garage I limped it home... Only for the exact same thing as this.morning happen getting home.

The car won't be driven now until it goes to a specialist.... On a trailer, of course :)

Scary thing is the local garage didn't notice it......?

Yeah im nit going to say the name as its unfair but i got the feeling as soon as i said that i had already purchased the discs and pads they weren't interested.

This was a chain as well.

a letter will be sent, don't worry!!
