screen resolution keeps changing to 800 x 600 on startup

basically after a fresh install of xp home on my netbook, everytime i restart, the display reverts to 800x600, even after i have shut down the netbook with a 1024 x 600 display.

any ideas? i would say though that when it does start up, it opens the desktop initially at 800x600 but then adjusts after a few sec to 1024 x 600. but surely if i set it to the 1024 setting and shutdown, when i restart it should go straight back to that resolution? have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the display drivers but still same problem

Have you checked for any BIOS updates on the netbook? With it having integrated graphics, there maybe a fix for the issue in a BIOS update?

Certainly worth checking first.
