Sealing leaking bolts?

The bolts on my Cam Carrier are leaking a tiny amount of oil so need to seal them. whats the best thing to use?

thanks

for something so small, i may as well do it myself... its an invonvenience being without the car. Westover admitted all they would be willing to do is seal the bolts.

Well yeah it might be a small thing, but if something goes wrong you are in s**t. If they make it go wrong it's their fault and you have more waranty when it comes back.

do you need to take the cam cover off or only the bolts out?

At my work (ministry of defense) the mechanics use loctite. (fluid gasket or for fixing bolts)

However I don't know the job you have to do.

Instant gasket should be fine i'd have thought. First thing to check before you go pulling them out is to check that they're all tight. Has's was leaking when he first got his and he found a slightly loose bolt was causing it to leave, tightend it up and problem solved.

Told you lol, What about that red stuff they use to seal the rocker cover? I'm not sure what its called though

OR (mechanics speak up) what about PTFE tape? (You know the stuff to seal compression joints)

You can use any fluid (instant) gasket, aslong as you look for heat resistence. The engine can get a bit warm :)

taking the bolts out isnt a problem i was told its the top cover and the cam cover is under this one.

I dont know what they used at mark fish but they took each bolt out, put some sealer around the top, put it back in a torqued it up, did it for all the bolts in the cover.

normal rtv silicone will do the trick
red hylomar something like that,, but do one at a time as you dont want to brake the seal on the carrier.
and also they need to be torqued up (a must) as if you dont you'll end up with premature cam wear etc

and no ptfe tape is no good, as its not the thread it leaks through its round the bolt head. and you dont want it round the bottom of the bolt head as you dont want it crushing and loosing torque again premature cam wear

You got a torque wrench homie? because I have a rather strong arm that is capable of tightning to 500 Nm if you need it.

On a serious note I think I'v got one somewhere if you need it. Ill check
