Seatbelts/pretensioners

One of the rear pretensioners went off locking my back seatbelt. I've been searching scrappys for one and eventually found one today. It would pull out so does this mean the pretensioners will be ok?
Only problem was I was half way through taking it off when I realised it wasn't recoiling. So I pushed it in and when I got it out found out it had locked and wouldn't budge.
I remember getting a seatbelt out a BMW and they had to be tied to stop them recoiling in and locking. Are Clio belts the same?Is their anyway of fixing this or changing over the pretensioners without the belt? I did a search and someone mentioned the reel has to be in the position it would be fitted which I never thought off could it be this?

Lol thought I was going to get an answer their!
Yep all mk2 ph2 but cups have pretensioners in the rear though not the middle one. It's built into the reel instead of the buckle like in the front.

There seems to be a random group of cars wit and without it I'vve sen 172 full fats withouth them and cups without it and normal cars with it and without it.

The give away is what type os front loom connector there is as ones with it have a different tyype of clip.

It went off after I met a kerb one night. I know it the ideal solution going 2nd hand but Renault want £130 and I never have anyone in the back seats anyway(can't fit anyone!) and if it came to it i'd put in a seatbelt without pretensioner although to get the airbag lights off I need one with a pretensioner. What's the biggest risk buying second hand?My understanding is these are either deployed or not and if you were to crash your car you wouldn't change all the belts that never went off so taking one that never deployed out of a crashed car shouldn't be much different.
Does anybody know if the belts need to be in their mounting position to operate and if they will lock permanently if you reel them in too far?

OK firstly if you do replace with a normal seat belt you can wire in a resistor to make the air bag computer think that the pretensioner is still there. (a guide on how to do it properly is elsewhere.
On that not please bear in mind that the pt is linked to the abc so you may need to get that reset for your airbags to work (or your insurance to be valid). Also do not mess around with anything linked to the abc unless the abc is fully discharged or you could set an airbag off and they are very expensive to replcae. To discharge it unplug the battery and leave it for half an hour.

If you use a second hand one from a crashed car and it has gone off but the belt is still usable your abc will report a fault when you plug it in. A new pt should be about £70 if you fit it yourself.

I understand what your saying but what i'm getting at is I have found one from a crashed car and it has not gone off as it was slack and from mine if it goes off it will be tight against the seat. So if I plug that into my car I will be able to refit the airbag computer after it's been cleared and everything will work.
The only thing is when I was removing the seatbelt it wound in and locked, it was free to move before that and i'm wondering why it has locked?

you can fit normal rear belts (without pre-tensioners) and have your airbag ecu reconfigured so it is without rear belts, but if they are fired then you also have a fault 'replace airbag ecu'...
