Sell it, or break it??

  2005 clio 1.2 16v
Hey guys just wondering what would be the best option on my 172 clio cup iceberg. Bought her as a non runner with intention of breaking her but got her running i don't know whats the best route to go should i break her or sell her as a whole.

The only thing is she has a cracked front bumper, dented bonnet and cracked passenger wing mirror. And her wheels are scuffed due to previous female owner.

Do i sell her as a project?

She had a full engine rebuild in 2010 at renault!

Thoughts please!

If you are happy to spend a lot of time breaking, packaging and posting items (as well as being able to store the shell) then you will get more money.

If it was for me, I would sell it whole car - far less hassle

As said, breaking a car is a lot of hassle and a lot of time spent dealing with time wasters and posting parts. It will get you more money though.

You could advertise it for a quick sale and easily make a quick profit. IIRC you didn't pay alot for the car.

Ahh my bad .. read the first paragraph about 14 times and I think you're right.

Well, I guess it depends how much you want/need for it, and how much time/effort/ballache you can be bothered to put in ?

You might be able to make £2k or more if you break it and are lucky that people want stuff and you have the time/space to do it, finally scrapping the shell in about 18 months time.

You might however just punt it on at £1500 as is currently and be done by the weekend ;)

FLOL.

That was exactly the type of thing we got plagued with!

Shocking, init. Also get clowns bartering over a quid/postage. It annoyed me so much in the end that I binned loads.

Breaking is a ball ache, but if you have the patience/time/space most of all its worth it.

These days it's only really worth it if its a modified car, or stupid cheap. As f**king mongs on here sell things for that cheap, I actually wonder how they even make money from doing it!

It's a cup so it's well worth saving imo. No idea why any sane person would break a car. Iceberg cups are quite rare mate if you didn't know.

Same goes for buying cars back of Insurance companies. Unless it's going to make you a quick grand with the easy bits, bin it and start again!

Would send me f**king mental!

I would've been mental not to buy mine back at the price that they offered me. But, like you say, I had the sachs/wheels/spoiler/recaros.

Bingo. You don't buy back a 172 for a grand then break it. Yours was worth a few bob in bits!

Do not break, we've done two now, it's a nightmare as said before, stupid questions, stupid people. just binned about £500 worth of stuff, as I'm getting fed up of tripping over it.

What if I stopped for two 25 minute breaks? Would they last the extra 10 mins? Also, I know you've been on here nearly 7 years and have over 10,000 posts, but I don't trust you. Can I Paypal you? Only thing is though, I don't want to pay the fees, would you cover that? I don't want to pay more than £6 you see. If you're happy with that then i'll take them, but you'll need to post within the next 15 minutes because we're out Friday and i'd need them before the weekend. Also, we live down a really weird street so you can't use Royal Mail as they keep getting it wrong. I bought some disks before off someone else described as 'used' but they were dirty and a bit rusty so I'm a bit wary, it took me ages to sort out a refund. Thanks.

Actually lolling.

Although, to have topped it off, you need to ask for pics. Even though they probably look like every other set of brake discs out there, pics are required. lol

It's only 10 years old and it runs, why does it need to be dismantled to sell it? Boggles my mind.

What are you looking to sell it for as is?
