Sell the Clio?

I'm fucked off with Renault TBH and if someone would've said "here's £8k for your car" earlier I woulda took it.

Car has had the little temp gauge issue for a while I just havent got around to getting it in to the garage and it happens so intermittently I just left it until I could make time. Car decided to do it today driving home, temp gauge goes down to cold, car starts overfuelling or whatever and gets all lumpy. Then stop at lights and its idling at 2000rpm for some reason so I turned it off to turn it back on which has worked before. So it decides it doesnt wanna start.

After 6/7 attempts it starts so I thought better try and get it into Renault. Visited Romford Renault and explained the issue. Cant get me in until the 15th November. Ra!

So I called Toomey's explained the issue and he said "we'll need the car for a day, at least 6 hours". Realistically what would they be doing for 6 hours!!! Putting a new engine in?! SO I said "But its a known issue isnt it". He says "I dont know is it? And it'll need to go on a laptop computer to diagnose the fault". I said "Well it takes like 10mins to do a diagnostic doesnt it?". "Err well yeah but you need to leave it and not wait". So I said I'd be waiting with it and could I come on Saturday morning to which he replies "We dont have the expertise on a Saturday to deal with it".

I just found all the dealers consistently unwilling to help anyone out who has an issue. I'm not gonna go through my life story but the point is the only time I can get in in the next 2 weeks is either after 4pm or on a Satuday and no one was willing to help out. When I had a FORD I never had any problems and just went in and if I was really in the s**t they'd help out. Renault service just dont care.

So is there any dealers doing half decent hatches that DO care? I dont hate the car the opposite in fact, but the whole Renault ownership experience just doesnt make me happy because of crap dealers. I can forgive poor build quality and rattles etc because of the drive of the car. But I cant forgive unhelpful numptys.

This isn't in Other Marques cos it aint about other Marques really though i await it being moved by some mod being "useful". Its not particularly about other marques.

Its also not in Exterior, Power & Mechanical....cos its not particularly about that either.

And its not in Renault Dealers....as its not about any particular dealers really, just all of them. So I put it in here as its a Clio Discussion.

well iv always used the garage at the bottom of the road for repairs on most of my cars, hence this he will always sqeeze me in there and then, 6hrs seams excessive for this fault tho.

i had probs with my alarm friday night..alarm was going every 10 mins and wouldnt reset so car was unlocked,went to my local dealer 1st thing sat but suprise suprise they couldnt look at it

took it back monday morning..2pm i get a call saying the alarm hasnt gone off all day there is nothing wrong with it... so i said well you best keep it cos they if defo a fault on it...2.10pm get a call sayinng it needs a new alarm but will take 10 days!!!! do you want to leave it with us??? errr not for 10 days i dont thanks,was gonna lock it in the warehouse at work....how can it go from being nothing wrong to needeing a new alarm in the space of 10 mins ???

gets to reno at 4.30 to pick it up ready for the warehouse and the guy says great news the part will be in tomorrow ..we had the wrong part number its the 2nd time its happened today!!! (t***s)

got it back today at 4.30 checked to see it still had an alarm and the monkeys hadnt just taken it out!!

time will tell whether its been fixed ok...just get so wound up by these people who just have no idea about customer service....if i treated our customers like this i would be sacked!!!

i love my car and glad to have it back but the service is absolute dogshit

sorry for hijacking your thread hip_spasm but thought may make you feel better hope you get it sorted out soon mate

Mate happy to see someone agreeing with me that Renault are t***s who have NO idea about how to treat a customer.

Warranty work mate? Requires main dealer.

what a b*tch :(, iv bought into a world of sh*t customer service then lol, oh dear why o why.. im impatiant at the best of times!!!

only just got my clio, norm all my other cars havnt had main dealer warrenty on em
 
They need time to do anything mate. There changing the wiper motor on my 182 and rekon they need it dropped off by 9 and picked up at 5! To change a wiper!! What makes it worse is they never stock ANY 182 parts. I.e u want a touch up stick, 3 day wait.. new wiper motor 3 day wait... Tis a joke.

thats bloody harsh, should never have to pay for a warrantied car

Touch up stick I can understand but not a wiper motor. They want it for 9til5 so they can do the job whenever they fancy, put other people in front of you and drive it around the local industrial estate.

I always stay with it and never let them take it out. Never forget the day I saw 2 servicedesk staff in Ilford coming back from getting coffee's in my old Clio. Never ever went back there.

It's the car industry!

IMHO, most dealers in this country don't want to do an honest caring job - too time consuming, and not as profitable.

They're forever trying to rip people off, and don't give two sh*ts about the customer because they know that we HAVE to go to them to either 1)buy new cars or 2)service them whilst still under warranty.

So, until they stop making money, they will continue as they are.

But, there are a FEW excellent dealers out there.

Omar you still maintain warrenty from a specialist don't you?

mine's never been near a reno garage in its life (except when it was new)
4yrs 32k miles and never had a problem

They need the car all day as they just look at it when they can....for say 20mins every 3hrs between other jobs :(
 
You just have to live with it with dealers just make sure you note the milage and for scratches before and after and get a courtesy car as that speeds them up. Don't complain though my car was in for 2 or 3 weeks once when the alarsm kept going off the official fix takes err about 10 minutes if there slow.

they tried but i never paid....was to reset a light on the dash that came on when an igition coil went,the AA fixed it but obviously couldnt do the light

Took mine in for service, had already told them i am going to wait while its done, 1hr.

8.30 turned up, 11.30 car still outside.

F##king reved, 30 mins later car moved, 1hr later car appeared, DONE.

WTF are they playing at W~~KERS.

Renault are having my car back for 2 days next week!!! They had better sort the faults or I will be contacting head of Renault UK.
