Seriously cheap plasma

I was only comparing the two for price :p

So yeah, specs wise comparable to the G10.

That Samsung contrast ratio only refers to the Dynamic mode, which is pish if you're watching movies IIRC? What's the contrast ratio in the rest of the modes? ;)

it doesnt say like usual they all lie and im getting sick of it

Like you mentioned it only says mega dynamic contrast ratio on all the samsung leds ive seen so far, possibly the most useless statement ever on a tv.

Maybe they dont know lol

right. some of you lot seem to know your shizzle and it sounds like I should be looking for a plasma over an LCD if poss.

Anyone reccommend some good priced full HD ones? My front room aint massive so I don't need 50".

For the difference in quality between a plasma and LCD which imo isn't that great, its not worth the money and the whole having your plasma recharged and the issue of potential burning on the screen.

Unless your an absolute homosexual geek with nothing else in your life other than your TV then its really unnecessary imo, a decent LCD is just fine.

My eyes are fine, i just didn't see that the difference was huge, you could see a minor difference, but come on, whats wrong with a normal LCD tv, the picture quality is perfectly suitable, you don't have to recharge it or any of that b****cks and although plasma tv's are coming down in price, an LCD is still better value for money.

I do not see that spending piles of cash on a TV is going to make you enjoy a film anymore than if you watched it on a tv costing much less.

Oh my god your so full of s**t TBH. Please go away.

How much do you have to spend, what size, and how far away do you sit from the TV?

Ideally up to £500. Sit probably 6' away from one sofa and about 9-10' from the other. Currently got a 32" widescreen CRT and the cabinet is about 40-42" diagonal so could go up to 42 but may look a little bit big.

im sorry but that plasma sucks ass its not even 1080I it supports it but only desplays 1366x768 pixels, any fool knows that a good lcd with 1920x1080 and good contrast ration will own that plasma, aslo plasmas suck cause they dont last as long. end off

PMSL!

I'll have whatever you've been smoking sunshine.

Let's pick holes in your observations..

1) I don't think plasmas have mouthes

2) 1080p only really makes a difference if you're sitting ridiculously close to the TV (less than 7 foot iirc), so 720 is fine

3) The 720 Panny's display @ 1024x768 I believe, which is within spec of it's HD Ready label

4) Most LCD panels are s**t compared to plasmas, though the new LED backlit ones are getting closer.. but the top end plasmas still rule the roost

5) There isn't much difference in contrast ratio between LCD and plasma panels.. unless you've been smoking Samsung's crack pipe

6) Most plasmas are rated for 100k hours, same as most LCDs... that's quite a few continuous years of watching

End of, f**kface :p

I was under the impression LCD is better if the main use is gaming. Did quite a lot of research over on Avforums and the general consensus over there is plasma will sufer screen burn if used alot for gaming.

I don't know if its true or not, but I chose lcd and I'm quite happy with it

Nope not really true anymore of plasmas

Some suffer from image retention (the sort of ghosted image it can leave behind) but others are better for this.

The first plasma I had (way back when plasma's just started being released to the public) it would suffer horribly from screen retention, even after 20 minutes.

My Panny is awesome TBH never had screen retention or even ghosting after playing PS3 with static logos/health bars etc... even after 6-8 hours solid gameplay.

Projectors.. great for watching a film on a big screen.. expensive if you were to use it for a lot of tv viewing.

ah you can if you get a good enough projector granted blacks wont be great in light but it doesnt stop you closing the curtains

i wasnt suggesting it to teh op though mainly just in the quality debate

Comparing my LG 1080p 42" LCD to my mates panny 1024x768 plasma and I really can't see any difference other than the obvious fact that mine does higher res.

Go for whatever you want, if you research it enough you will get a decent panel regardless of type!
