Seriously pissed off now. Do i need a remap?

Brass is a good conductor of electricity , must have been sending an electrical impulse thro' the brass when it was touchin the heat shield .??

Couldn't you have just bagged it up ? I've never had my lambda sensor disconnected so i'm not sure what problems that can occur other than the wrong detection of the oxygen level .

i will ask him what he's done when i go to pick it up later on. I'm not paying £170, it cant be right. There has to be a mistake.

^^^^ It does seem alot of money for what sounds like a simple fix .

I work in maintenance. Sometimes the fix for a problem is ten minutes. Actually finding the cause can take hours. The clip wouldn't have told him that it wasa shorted out. Only that there was a fault.

Your perfectly entitled to query the bill and ask for a breakdown of costs however. Just something to bear in mind.

And after all the trouble you've had, are you going to scoff at the bill if he's fixed it??!

yeah but the brass thing is on the sensor itself i presume and that usually touches earth ( exhaust), maybe there is chaffing wires where it's loose

It cost me £180 labour for a water pump change!

we dunno if he's actually fixed it yet lol

well went to pick it up. it seems ok, will test it out more this wkend.

He said he has done repairs to the wiring loom? it took ages to find the fault apparantly - does that justify £175 though? doesnt seem like it to me

If you went to the stealers it would probaly of been double that. £170 aint that bad mate .

£170 isnt bad if its fixed it, we charge £70 an hour (vw dealer) +vat so I wouldnt be complaining too much. The fix may seem simple to you but its the time spent tracing the fault you can spend hours on a car just to find 1 broken wire as you have to eliminate other things. Just hope its sorted.

Matt

yeah i think ill give him a ring tomorrow just to see what was done, as they didnt seem to tell me much - they just said repairs to the wiring loom? is that a big thing?

Mate. Like said. The repair may have been a 10 minute solder job. Finding it may have taken 4 hours.

More importantly, is it fixed?

it seems fixed yeah. There are still moments around 3000 revs where it seems to struggle or lose power, but the issue about the power simply not being there seems to have been resolved - im just curious what was wrong, im not going to ring to give them a mouthful. Just interested really.
