Serv & abs warning lights

Hey guys, I picked up my 182 last sunday. On the way home after about 2 hours on my way home the serv & abs/ possibly anti skid warning triangle came on. Kept on until I got home, turned her off & started again they didn't come back on. Noticed the oil level was low, so topped it up & they didn't come on again.

On my way to work today they came on again. It seems to intermittent, she was cold when they came on this morning. Any idea's? I've checked the levels, all seem ok. Drives superb otherwise!

Any help would be great. She's been serviced by Birchdown by her last owner & Fred did the belts on her last year too.

Cheers :)

I've had this for two different reasons.

1. Under seat wiring caused it along with the airbag light too.

2. Steering wheel angle sensor, but that way wasn't intermittent and was on all the time until I sorted it.

Edit: I also read on here that when searching around when I did have the problem was the tracking was slightly out causing the lights.

So I've probably not given you much help there! :)

I had the ESP + Serv light coming on every once in a while, after some research I found it could be the brake pedal sensor needing resetting, YAW sensor contacts (found under handbrake cover) could need cleaning or steering angle sensor.

You have the ABS + Serv lights though, If I can remember from what I searched it can be the same as above but also could be a ABS sensor or cracked ABS ring. Might be worth checking the ABS rings.

I've reset my brake pedal sensor which was a 2 min job and so far no lights, mine came on very randomly, could be twice in a day, could be 2 months apart from seeing it.

Reset the brake pedal first, push brake pedal down with hand, twist sensor anti clockwise and out, I left it plugged in, pull the plunger out it can be a bit stiff, once out click back in. I did 3 clicks. Then use a mirror or have someone check your brake lights respond well.

Woops, its actually the anti skid light. Or is it traction control? Its the one you can switch off ! Didnt come on again today.

Mine used to come on intermittantly, replaced the brake light switch and it made no difference.

Tracked it at Mallory in the snowy weather and it was fine, came on the next day! but switch the ign off and on and it was fine.

Put my code reader on it and it wouldn't speak to the abs ecu

Sold the car now!
