Serv and Airbag lights have come on :-(

These came on on saturday evening, so took it into the dealers this morning, and after an hour and a half, they came back to say that it was the drivers side seatbelt pre-tensioner....

They say they will have the part in tomorrow morning for fitting first thing - so the car should be all working order for wednesday.

Is this a common fault?

Has anyone else had this?

Ha! Just had mine in for the same think - its the wiring for the seatbelt pre-tensioners. Make sure they do both sides or youll be back to have the other one done in no time.

Had a precautionary oil & filter change too, and a brake check!

Has made me V cross. There appears to be no part needed as I have been through it (more than once). It is dodgy wiring (lose connection)

Sorry forgot to say before they waste their time fitting parts is they reset your management systems. Did for me and it went away for a while and came back on. Did this twice and in the end they ensured it was all tight on the connectors. 7,000 miles later and no problems.

I sound proofed my passenger door yesterday, i had to disconnect the key switch that controls the passenger side airbag (2001 1.2 dynamique). After i put it all back together the service light and the airbag light came on. Iv got it booked in the dealer, reckon they will make me pay cos i did the soundproofing? Anyone know how to get around it or reset it without goin to the dealers? i know that is the only connection that has been disturbed. Hopefully the dealers wont look inside the door and find the soundproofing!

I belive the problem is due to the design of some sort of box or switch under the seat. Mine went in and they fixed it in about 1/2 hr. My loaal dealer seemed to accept that it wwould happen after 6months and said loads of them come back to have the problem fixed.

I guess you will probably be ok with the sound proofing Renault dealers probably dont know if its supposed to be there or not. They shouldnt need to the the door apart. If you want you could always take it. Renault would never gues that someone had been messing round in the door so will just replace as many parts as they can see.

Scary thing is, I was thinking whilst in your car the other day Roamer.. how I havnt heard you have any problems with the car.. which is odd, cus it seems like everyone has some kind of annoyance or flashy dash!

Mine was on today for a short while. It was because I slid the seat forward to reach into the back and when I sat in the passenger seat and fiddled about with it the lights went out. It must be loose wiring which is made worse on sliding the seat. I will get my hubby to check it out tomorrow.

Cool, iv got mine booked in at the dealer, if they find the soundproofing i will pleed insanity and say i never did it! lol, when i booked it in they said it will be the wiring under drivers seat! Nutters, it seems like renault know about a lot of problems i.e. sunroof, wiring and dont get it sorted, would have been better if it had been checked on the first service. thanks.

HAVE NOW BEEN TO THE GARAGE 6 TIMES FOR THEN TO FIX THE SAME PROBLEM - EACH TIME THEY HAVE CLAIMED THERE TO BE A DIFFERENT REASON FOR THE FAULT!!!

HOW MANY MORE VISITS SHOULD I ALLOW BEFORE THEY GIVE ME ANOTHER CAR???

Its the wire under the seat, wiggle it to check, common prob and no big deal.

Ive had this, asked them to do both sides and they said no, they could only do the effected side. Remeber this seeming annoying- this now seems minor incomparisons to my current issue

Ive given the wires under the drivers seat a wiggle yesterday, i didnt do anuthing at first. but today i got in the car and the service and airbag lights have gone out! ghost in the machine i think

when mine went in (2 day old car) all they done was tighten all connections under the seat, that has sorted the problem out, 8k miles later not a problem
