What does it mean when it comes on?
Does it mean its due a service or something else?

Any number of things, lambda playing up etc but it does not mean that it needs a service. Get it on a code reader tbh if there are no obvious symptoms accompanying it. Also RTFM

ffs one thing after another at the moment! Can I take it to any garage to get it on a reader?
It came on after I hit a pot hole if that helps?

Most will have a reader that covers most makes and models, give them a ring first and tell them what you have to confirm it if you don't want to waste a journey.

Mine is on mine, had it scanned and no codes on there. baffled.
