Was looking at getting my car ready for its major service has its been a while since the last one, I priced up all the bits and bobs from renault and its over £200 which is pi$$ as im skint the now. The bits which i want to be changing are the following as i think it was cheap motor factor parts that where used before from the old owner.

Oil Filter (8200768913) £7.02
Air Filter (8200459852) £15.04
Pollen Filter (7700424098) £15.21
Spark Plugs (8200239321) x 4 £67.52 (for 4 )
Ign Coil (8200141149) £61.11
HT Leads (8200334440) £50.18
Sump Plug Seal
Genuine Renault Oil

From looking on Ebay there is alot of service kits that include the spark plugs and all the filter and i have also came across Ign Coil Packs that are stated as new for a much cheaper price but would you guys trust the Ebay stuff or would you rather bite the bullet and just buy OE Renault parts ?

You can save over £30 on them plugs mate on ebay, NGK PFR6E-10, about £31 delivered, i got mine from there last year

Oil, use opie oils, get fuchs titan race super synthetic, cheaper than the renault stuff and alot better, think its about £40 delivered

Don't go to Renault FTLOG man !!!

I personally wouldn't touch eBay with Rob's bargepole.

Motorfactor + Opie Oil. Just make sure you got the correct spark plugs.

When you say "a while" since the last "major service", what are you talking about ? Oil changes are every 12k maximum. A major service is a cambelt, fluids, brakes + the works...

Just had a brake fluid change, coolant flush, Timing belt & Aux belt kits done on the car less than 500 miles ago so its everything else i need to do.
I know renault over charge big time but i would rather use OE genuine parts even if it means getting them from a user on the site who works for renault.

As i say im 100% sure that all the items including the spark plugs are cheap motor factor parts which i dont want on the car

When i buy any car i change the lot like i did on my vectra, The vectra hadjust been serviced when i bought it but i done everything on it again so i knew it had been done and it was ok and plus its more a piece of mind thing for me and that i know its all done.

yes but u could buy new ones and they could fail before the existing ones would. I`m still on original ones and still runs fine no issues

Our brand new coil packs on ebay or less then 30 and never had a problem with the 100's we have sold

This is very very true but with them being new i will have warrenty on them.
Alot of people use the saying "if its not broke dont replace it" and i agree but as i dont know much about the service history and the book is only part filled out i would rather replace all these bits

Have you replaced the engine and the gearbox .. just incase ?

;)

Actually serious: The exhaust ? As I'm sure you know, Renault use the finest gorgonzola to produce their OEM exhausts.

lol wtf at buying new ones for the warranty, why not just use ones untill/if they break then buy new ones, which will have warranty.

im still waiting on my quote from the list i gave you weeks ago via the phone.

Yeah it was 4 timing belts in 3 years, 2 water pumps, 4 Aux belts, Head gaskets done twice in 3 years, New disc's, pads brake calipers & brake pipes.
New exhaust downpipes, CAT & back box. 4 new coolant bottles and coolant flushes, 4 new coolant temp sensors and a service every 6 months. The list goes on.

lol wtf at buying new ones for the warranty, why not just use ones untill/if they break then buy new ones, which will have warranty.

Im NOT just buying them for the warrenty, If they fail, break of have a problem then atleast i know there is warrenty there on the new parts.

I see that on Ebay you can get these plugs in a set of 4 for around £20/£30 which is alot cheaper than renault.

sounds to me like you enjoy wasting money!!

my servicing consists of
plugs £25
oil £13 semi-synth cheap stuff!
oil filter £5
fuel filter £5

job done for £50! local parts store ftw!! only thing branded i buy is the plugs!
however, i probs service my car a lot more than you do so the price kind of evens out a little!!

I have read on this forum that magnecore ones dont fitt 100%

I would not say that i waste money left right and center, As the service history with the car is alittle questionable and is only part history i would like to replace the things stated above in my first post.

Yeah some people may see it as a total waste of time and money but i would rather it was done and then i know that during my ownership i have done it and i can keep a record of the servicing and parts used while im the owner.
