Service light on after seat change !!!

  Peddled device
I have just taken my passenger seat out of my 182 Cup and fitted a 182 FF seat in its place. Please help with the following...

1. The service light has now come on. Why? How do l reset it?

2.I have fitted the seatbelt holder (c/w pre-tensioner) from my original seats.I have done a reversal of the removal. Is there any issues with this (l now have seat air-bags) and could this be causing the service light to come on?

Cheers

Yes, there are a couple wires under the seats that cause the air bag and service lights go nuts. I can't recall which one... :-/

hi mate you should have disconnected the battery before the seat removal.
make sure you have the radio code and disconnect the battery for 1min re-connect should hopefully be okay.
do not use wd40 on anything like that my friend

I did dis-connect the battery for about 15 mins before l started work. I did the passenger seat first....reconnected the battery...then noticed the SERV light on. I dis-connected it again...did the drivers seat...and then noticed the SERV light and the air-bag light on.

Computer configured wrong. due to side air bags on the FF seats

Does this mean that they won't work...or can l have the computer altered to sort this?

Or do l just waggle the connectors about and spray a little WD 40 on them?

At the moment your computer is configured without haveing side air bags
it detects the side air bags when you plug them in and confuses the computer. you could have the computer reconfigured. eirther by a very nice dealer or a local specialist with clip machine.

I take it the SERV light will illuminate as well as the air-bag light if the computer detects something not right?

I'm in Bury near Manchester...does anyone know where l can get the computer reconfigured...or do l go to the dealer (Renault Manchester) ?

No need to matey... just add resisitors to the loom, fooling the computer into thinking they are there.

That's what i did when i had buckets, to keep the light off.

the dealers wont do the airbag re-configuration iv'e tried for mine they say its a legal problem, if i carsh the car etc etc

chris his is the other way around you could disconnect the side air bags

I should use the 'blank' female plug thats on the original Cup seats? That sounds okay...though l don't get to have the airbags :( Does anyone else do this re-configuration other than the stealers?

And will this turn the SERV and air-bag light out?

Thanks for you help.

The seats do look good though :)

I haven't fitted the new steering wheel yet...that should be a straight swap as its from a 182 FF :)

I know how you feel with the lights been on though, im constantly flinching thinking "this is gonna go off in my face"

Okay...plugged the resistors in and the lights have gone off. :)

I noticed that the plug on the passenger seat has the red part missing.Maybe this is why l am getting the fault reading.Does anyone have a spare that l can have?
