service light????

The service light has come on along with the airbag light on my w reg clio sport. Is there any way of resetting it?

AFAIK the service light doesnt mean its due a service at all - it means a fault is present. I could be wrong but I'm fairly sure on this.

This is a common fault on these cars, what you will need to do is find where the conector is under the seat and if possible disconect it, and make sure the conectors are clean. When you refit them make sure they clip them together firmly. If this still persists what you will need to do is solder the to sets of wires together, This was the way in which Renault fix the problem.

The serv light has nothing to do with servicing it relates to problem on the car. It realy should say fault but that doesn't look very good.

f**k me that was quick and easy took me 10 secs started the engine wiggled the wires and it whent off thanks mate the ren work shop wanted £70 to just look at the problem

wiggle the wires underneath you seat, common fault and should sort it out mate!!

Nice one mate your a lifesaver, it turned out to be the blue plug under the passenger seat, once wiggled the lights went off, just think if I took it into renault as i had planned they would probably had stung me a fortune for them to wiggle a couple of wires. I owe you one

mine's been doing this intermittently; gonna have a butchers under my seat tomorrow.

Was reading a thread about the gear stick light coming on before you hit the rev limiter in the 172 MkII, and sure enough today when I was proving if the gearstick icon illuminated (it did) the serv and airbag light stayed on too!

The same thread said that intermittent fault lights often come on after a good ragging about - How right! How predictable are these lil french cars too!

I hope I can jig the wires.

Cheers boys, John

I've disconnected every wire - reconnected and wiggled and shaken the wires to the rythm of the song on the radio till I got bored,.. Silly SERV and airbag light still on!

Which wire should I be most concerned with? Is it the wire that connects to a single thin wire? It's really doing my head in now!!!

I'll buy a pint for anyone who can help me sort this!

If you could just post a slightly larger pic I might be able to help you. lol.
No sorry I'm not sure with that because my wiring if different, mine they are split up intoo different connectors for each thing (pre-tensioners and airbag etc..). You have everything all from that one unit I think. Sorry mate, all I can think of is to spray some electical connections cleaner on it and have another wiggleing session!

cheers anyway mate - thanks for the speedy reply too.

I hate it when people post massive pics too, means you
have to scroll to the right as well as down; and I'm far
too lazy for that!

Seems, fingers crossed, that i'ved sorted it. Gonna regret saying that I know. Had a proper old wiggle of the wires,.. then some more, then some more. My mate who works for Bridges Renault in Newbury rang me, so I asked him his view. He said wires under the seat; the wires that are connected at the multi-connector, as are the pre-tensioners. However he said you can't solder it yourself as the risk of the airbag deploying without being disabled first was pretty high! Renault charge an hours labour/£77.

So I wiggled some more, then got my can of lighter fuel on a rag and wiggled and cleaned, cleaned and wiggled. Seems to be ok now... We'll see how long it lasts though.

Thanks to all the help I received.

John
