Servicing confusion

  HyperAlloy Combat Chassis
I bought a pre reg 182 in November, which had originally had been registered in March 05. I was told that the 1st service is at 12k or 1 year. Today I took it down to the dealer for it's 1 year service, although the car only has 3700 miles on the clock. They told me that they can't authorise a service as the mileage is too low!

So I phoned renault CS to clarify if my warranty is still intact if I miss the yearly service. They have told me that because I have a year 03 engine, it only needs a service every 18k or 2 years. Which is it? My only worry is that if I miss a service my warranty will be void.

Silly Renault cars

Thanks :) Strange that the dealer and renault CS told me different things but neither were correct! You would think they should know!

Renault models are 18,000 miles or 2 years, Renaultsport is indeed 12,000 or 2 years.

Thick employees unfortunately.

They probably have 1 in 100 cars thats a sport and get used to one level of servicing for general cars...
Still not on though

According to the service book its every 12k miles or 2 years , whichever is reached first .
Personally i always change the oil myself inbetween services , so its changed every 6k miles .

I do the same as you mate, 12k miles is far to long to leave the oil in there + you dont need to waste money on slick 50 with frequent oil changes.

Renault took my registration and pulled my car up on their screen. I double checked that the guy knew it was an RS. He said, "yes, that's a 182?". Then he was telling me the servicing intervals depend on what year the engine was made  Pleasant enough chap but not a clue it seems!

No need to have a go at Renault even Renault print the UK manauls saying 12k/1yr for servicing the new none RS cars.

Anyone know why they recommend 12k/12months for a 172 but 12k/24 months for a 182? It never takes 12 months to get to 12k but just out of curiosity?

I've had this as well recently at Renault Manchester. Renault Customer Services confirmed that it's definitely 12000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first, as people have said. Renault Manchester refused to believe me too until they phoned Customer Services for themselves.

Me and my big mouth! I made the appointment for my car going in several weeks ago and I took it in at 8 this morning. I got a call this afternoon saying the new shocks they'd fitted were faulty so they need to keep it till tomorrow to get some more! I hope I get my car back tomorrow! :dapprove:

P.S. They were supposed to be having another go at fixing the 1st gear clunk when when engaging it. What causes this in case they haven't fixed it again and I can tell them? Cheers.

P.P.S I can't read that thread, it says I'm not authorised. Please can you describe it for me instead :)

Sorry to hear that Gaz, I hope I didn't jinx you with my above post. Renault Manchester really are bad. There's no way I'll use them again. Hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

I've had a call saying my car is ready for collection, I'm going to get it soon. I just hope they've remembered to do my MoT and replace the black box bracket.

OK so I've gt my car back. They've fixed the suspension but they've not sorted my 1st gear clunk, AAAARGGH!! This is the second time I've asked them to sort it and it's not been done. They claim they can't recreate the fault. I could take a technician out and it'd do it within 5 times of putting it into 1st. It's just done it loads of times on the way home! At this point I just can't be bothered. :(
