Servicing out of warranty period - 182

  Shhh
Car is well out of warranty, due a 60k service..

Who would you take it too, and why.?

Belive its just..

Oil Change
Oil filter Change
Air Filter Change
Pollen Filter Change

everything else is just an inspection, and usually come back with a list the length of my arm telling me that everything is 50% worn or so..

Is that renault stamp worth anything these days.? Or would you just find a local garage who can complete the work for you.

Personaly I'd only ever buy a car for some money if it had full dealership stamps a cheap banger then Ok fine. Depend how long you intend to keep the car.

Personaly I service my car myself as Im cheap.

I'd take it to Renault at leats they know what to look for.

Thanks for the link eddie, though its the same as above apart from a general look around.

I was actually thinking the best course of action would be to provide the airfilter, oil filter, pollen filter from renault to the garage. They can provide the oil, and go with that.

Service broken into 2 parts..

Part 1 - As expected

Change oil (for a 5/40 oil this is important to check some dealers use 10/40 as per normal Clio’s)
Change oil filter
Change air filter
Change passenger compartment filter (if appropriate)

Part 2 -Niff Naff

Check bodywork for rust etc (this is part of the Renault anticorrosion check)
Check brakes for wear, failing seals, fluid level
Check power steering fluid level/pipes
Check exhaust
Check condition of the rubber gaiters on the steering rack
Check the coolant level
Front and rear windscreen wiper check. Condition etc.
Tyres check for uneven wear and pressures
Check front and rear shock absorbers
Check bulbs work (brakes/indicators etc)
Check battery charge state.
Check all windows/mirrors for cracks etc.
Computer check of any errors logged in the ECU etc.

Decent independant for that type of work. Buy some decent oil in advance and take it with you to stop them from fleecing you for it.

decent independant! My car has never been back to a main dealer since I bought it. All waranty work and servicing has been carried out by an approved independant.

SAME I'd never take my car to any reno garage in edinburgh. They haven't got a clue. Just find a good garage that you trust.
