Any thoughts on whether it would be ok to get a Clio 172 serviced by someone other than Renault. If so any reccomendations?

Where are you based?

Most Choose between Rentech, GDI or Clarkie @ Carlton garage depending on distance, all are well regarded on here.

I live in Essex. I have seen that GDI are in Cambridgshire which isn't too far away. Where abouts are Rentech based? Do they use decent parts in the services?

both myself and Rentech use genuine renault parts, we use silkoline oil as well... i think mike uses elf...

mike is in portsmouth... and we are near cambs

As above all very well regarded and will be a damn sight cheaper than Renault-monkey prices.
