this is how mine is connected up:

external arial to freeview box - arial to dvd rcorder - arial to tv. so thats my signal in.

then i have:

freeview - tv (using scart)
dvd recorder - tv (using hdmi)

hdmi??? do i need that cable then??
only if you have a hd (high def)tv.
how sco3tt said firstly, should be adequate.
then scart from freeview box to tv
scart to dvd recorder.

remember you might need a digital aerial.
like in our case in my part of Cheltenham a freeview box will not run off an analouge aerial.

try connecting 360, dvd recorder, sky+, hd dvd and getting them wired together and then into a surround sound amp.. was a fcuking nightmare..

have you tied putting the aerial from the eve decorder to the freeview box? so then you would have:

aerial from wall to dvd recorder to freeview box

  Clio 182 FF
coax from wall, to freeview, coax from freeview to dvd, then coaax from dvd to tv.
links them together, then scarts from freeview to tv and dvd to tv.
make sure you got the right connections on the coax, ie, AERIAL IN AND AERIAL OUT. sounds simple but you would be surprised.

is it possible that the aerial connection in the freeview box is only live when the box is actually on? i cant remember what the correct name for that type of system is though...

you only need a coax lead going from the wall to the freeview box and dvd recorder really.

are you recording from the freeview box? if you are, ignore what i have said above.
