Shiny steering wheel

  Inferno 182 w/ Recaros ;)
My steering wheel is getting a bit shiny, like there is grease or something on it. When I got the car it wasn't shiny, it was matt like the dashboard and other stuff.

Is there anyway I can get it to look like it did when I got it? Will the heavy duty Meguiars cleaner do the job?

I tried washing it before with soapy water but that didn't do much good.

I've always been weary of cleaning it as my dad said it wasn't a good idea as it could go to smooth and then you wouldn't be able to grip it correctly.

Any thoughts?

I find cleaning the bit of the steering wheel makes it bad for gripping like you say.

I use Poorboys Natural Look Dressing for the centre of the wheel and the rest of the dash.

do you mean shiny where you have worn the leather into a flat surface? i.e there is no texture to it?

or that its shiny because of grease from your hands etc?

if its the later, a fairly strong solution of fairy liquid should do it?
