Shitty Renault gearbox, any options?

Right, I've just worn my gearbox out again.
What a piece of s**t gearboxes are those Renault thingies.

Are there any other options to put on a Valver which will be stronger and last longer.

My JC5 has been rebuilt almost 2 years ago and now the 4th gear synchromesh is dead......

Would a Ford Focus RS box fit, that already has an LSD in it. That would be a perfect gearbox for me, but would it fit???

What are your opinions???

I've already got a Williams box, but I can't change gears fast enough.
It's just the build quality of those gearboxes.

I know that a Focus RS (Getrag) gearbox is very strong and changes gear very smoothly and fast, that's something a Renault gearbox won't ever do!

I will be needing a LSD in the future as I'm planning on supercharging or turboíng the Clio.

Theres nothing better that you can use...172/182's are JC5 as well. Short of getting a sadev either rebuild again or change gears slower!

Why are you changing so quick anyway?

Re: sh*tty Renault gearbox, any options?

Because I don't have any patience. ;)

My daily drive is a Daihatsu Charade on LPG with 276.000 km on the clock and that thing can even change gears quicker and smoother than my almost brand new JC5. (N)

JB3 boxes and JC5 boxes are the spawn of Satan - they are crap. There made of poor quality materials, poor design and poorly manufactured. I would personally buy a new / recon one from Renault and just before the warranty runs out take it out undo a bearing cage and reinstall the box then drive it for 50 miles to f**k it up. Then take it back to Renault who will then replace it ( including fitting ) under warranty for free - do it again the following year if you plan on keeping the car
