looking to get me some cooksport springs for the 172 (non cup)
my questions are;
the previous owner has had ktec topmounts fitted which leads me to believe he may of changed the shocks to cup shocks. However he may not have so how do I tell the difference between standard and cup shocks?
also, if it does have standard shocks, what would changing to cup shocks improve?
I'm not fussed about better handling at racing speed as this is a daily driver but I do want it to look as low as it would if it was on cup shocks.
I hope Tha makes sense, ive spent ages trawling through the search but couldn't find an exact answer.
cheers, Lee.

Cup/non cup shocks won't make a difference to the ride height. Not sure how to tell the difference - maybe a sticker on them?

If it's a daily driver I'd put OEM top mounts on it. If you're on standard non-cup springs then keep the shocks you have, if you're on cup/aftermarket springs then you want cup shocks. Don't have time to explain why right now but the difference between cup/non cup shocks has been covered before.

Part numbers if they haven't rusted away to nowt. The stickers will have most likely come off but worth looking for.

Doesn't change ride height.

cheers for the reply's.
what's the reason for changing back to OEM topmounts with standard shocks?
and why wouldn't you run aftermarket springs with non cup shocks?
if it hasn't got cup shocks on I will be changing to them but just curious.
