shocks

i recently had new shocks on the front of my mk1, the mechanic reckoned that they were slightly taller than my originals, because ive had lowered suspension. he tried to order the correct ones but instead fitted the taller ones saying they would be ok for the job.
is this true or will it affect the car in any way?

Depends what bit is taller I assume he means the shock body if so then I'd want to know what shocks they had installed.

However so long as you don't hit the bump stops you should be fine (there the rubber bit ontop of the strut body).
