Shocks

I've done 64k in my 54 plate Clio now, I really want some lowering springs but should I be thinking about replacing the shocks as well or do usually last quite well?

They last alright, but if you get lower springs it will put extra stress on the shocks, f*ck it! get coilovers!
Are you after performance or looks?

After both really but budget doesn’t really stretch to coilovers. Car seems so bouncy at the moment compared to what it was like new, also it’s only a 1.2.

I think your answering your won question here you need to get decinet shocks before you think about lowering springs as your's are problem worn to a degree now anyway.
