Short Shifter "Clutch Pin"

  SchwepTek™
What and where actually is this?

Have been told that mine had the pin fitted along with the shortshifter but want to put the standard pin back in as its apparently better for the gearbox.

Ive always been told defo not to use this with or without a short shifter, because like I say, it bones the box.

How do you find the gearchanges ? A lot shorter then original ?

i also have the MB one , without the pin. Would like to know how your findings are once you have removed the pin . Supposably it shortens the throw by another 30%

As someone said follow the gear linkage to the gearbox and the part that connects the linkage to the gearbox itself is the "clutch pin". Makes a nice difference in shortening the throw imo, and makes it a little bit more precise.

its up on the box sealed in with a plastic cup and circlip, get the clip out and pull down. Open the plastic thing up and pull the pin out and then un hook it. Swap over then reverse. Make sure you fill the rubber thing back up with grease

^^ well i'm ordering one then ;)

I am convinced that it's all up to the person handling the gearstick to ruin the box or not. I have never rushed gearchanges so i think it will be okay. I have stated before that the pin itself would give problems but after talking to people with experience + reading up i feel safe to try the bloody thing! :)

Only reason i was looking at changing back to standard is because i am currently trying to eliminate a problem where the gearstick moves up and down about 3-5mm and when letting off the throttle at high revs, it clicks up and down due to this movement.

You have to drop the exhuast from the cat and its an all under car job. If you have a ramp its easy. will take an hour tops. Hardest bit is cutting the old gear knob off!

Is this what your meaning?
