Can you fit a short shifter without the clutch pin ???
The pin shortens the shift even more and all the quick/short shifting gears will be stressfull on the box , maybe clutch aswell ? They do'nt like to be rushed into gears these JC-5 gearboxes

So does the short shifter put stress on the gear box ??

From experience, the mk2 gearbox feels absolutely f*ckin horrible compared to a 197. However, I had a B&M short shift on my mk2 (1.2) and it felt a lot nicer, comparable in terms of feels and throw to the 197.Slightly related but slightly hijacking sorry, I'm wondering if the short shifter like the one mentioned above would help me. I've got a 172 Cup and although I have no problems with the shift length or how positive it drops into gear what isn't ideal is that the gear lever does have quite a bit of free play left to right, just makes it feel less positive than I would like.
I've only had the car a few days and not driven other Clio II's to compare (although did have a new R27 last year and that was a lovely shoft action but obviously brand new).
Just wondered if anything in a 'new' shifter would help remove some play? Alternatively any other repair kits or recommendations to generally make the shift action more positive.
Cheers. Richard.
