I was just wondering if you have to inform the insurance company if I change the wheels on my 172 MK2. I only want to put on some anthracite 182 wheels. As they are both Renault wheels of the same size, Im thinking it wont increase my insurance premium.

what do you wreckon.

Ok , but what do you wreckon they will try and raise my insurance ? do you think its worth me saying to the insurance company that Renault dont make replacements for the old ones and so i was forced to get the new 182 wheels.

you have put different wheels on the car to those listed on thespec sheet in the insuurance companies eyes modified it ergo you have to tell them or you run the risk of invalidating your insurance.

it still applies to manufacturers wheels e.g i bought a fiat that had alloys put on as optional extras when new i had to declare them and they increased my policy by a few quid

For the sake of £20 or so do you really want to end up without a payout in the event you write the car off?

Always inform insurance. Otherwise youve paid £800 (or whatever) for a piece of useless paper.

Will deffo inform them when I do then . thanks for the advice.

Might be more than £20 but its still worth it, imagine not being paid out for something stupid like that.
